  2. All my life I had shorter hair, until I moved to Colorado in 2012. Since I still had a mostly full head of hair, I let it grow long, sometimes to the middle of my shoulder blades. I'm recently back to just past the ears, cuz I can't stand having it blow in my face with the car windows down OR in the excessive heat/humidity when I crew racing at Road America or COTA etc in the humid midwest!! I never sported it in a pony tail. A few years ago, we had a young guy as a newbie gofer at the race shop, he had long hair, often wore in a man bun. One day a coworker & I purposefully talked out loud in front of the boss, about wearing our (long) hair in a man bun.............he just looked at both of us & said "You will be fired, if you show up with a man bun!!" ๐Ÿ˜† ๐Ÿคฃ
  3. Mike we are guessing he means the rod to lower & raise the spare............??
  4. Hey Kelmo, I think there are a couple different lengths ie I bet the 510 Wagon is the shortest............?? But correct, the Wagons & trucks all had them!
  5. If you do not have a title, but the vin # is clean (run thru DMV or police), somebody would go thru the trouble of bonding for a title! This is too cool/rare of a DAtsun to part out!!
  6. Wow what a throwback!! I've been in & out of the British parts industry for MANY years (back in it again recently) & I lived in SW Michigan for many!! I know John Twist & University Motors!! This video is older, John is now retired. I sold John MG parts for many years & attended his MASSIVE British car almost show every year! He was a very interesting character! ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  7. I don't know much about Kennedy, had no CLUE he would run, but I have a very high respect for him for how he spoke out about Covid & the "vaccine".
  8. She is either conniving & brilliant or bat shit crazy. I bet the later...............๐Ÿ˜†

    1973 620 find

I was afraid of that. That should be removed, but if it can't, run it until it destroys the diff.............what choice do you have??!! Other issue will be destroying the wheel bearings with the metal shavings...............

Hmmmmmm maybe datzenmike or ?? will chime in, but that "LSD" unit looks like an aftermarket like Phantom Grip or ?? I hope I'm wrong! If it is, that is NOT GOOD, as they are junk!

    1973 620 find

Dood, my gf & I help her 91 yr old neighbor. It is an HOA neighborhood with a middle aged couple that complains about every little thing, multiple times a week. Their last complaint was against 91 yr old Rose, for having her fat little terrier Molly off leash, that ONLY runs to me when she sees me, otherwise sticks with Momma! They LIED to the HOA, claiming they stepped in her poop......they likely saw Rose & Molly out in the wide open "shared space" & Rose likely couldn't find it..........HOWEVER those numbnutz NEVER walk in that "open space"! Asswipes. Two days ago, Rose walks out of her house with Molly on leash, so she doesn't "get in trouble" with the HOA. Molly sees me & PULLS Rose in my direction...............I knew what was about to happen. I yelled "Rose, let go of the leash!", but she could not. Poor little Molly pulled Rose flat on her chest on the concrete. Thank God, only a gash on her elbow! I am NOT a violent/mean/hard ass guy, but I went over to the asswipes house, rang doorbell, dipshit Chuck answers the door. "Tell me the truth, did you complain about Rose & Molly with the HOA?" In his pussy voice, he starts to say "Well, yes, because we stepped in.........." I cut him off & told him off like I have NEVER told anybody else off in my life!! I even dropped F bombs, which I try not ever to do. I think he peed himself!! ๐Ÿคฃ Apparently, I am the hero of the neighborhood now!! I'm waiting for the cops to track me down for (verbal) assault!! F**king pussy AND his wife!! Yer a good man for hanging out with your Mom! ๐Ÿ˜Ž My Mom made 89 yrs old RIP 2017 ๐Ÿ™
  13. Yup, I've been in out of British parts for 40years, used an MGB boot & chrome ring on a couple cars! I found slicing a couple of very shallow groves on the ID of the rubber boot hole around the Datsun shift lever, lessened the "drag" of the rubber on the shift lever! A little lube helps, but it gets on the shift lever above the rubber boot & eventually collects a l'il dust/dirt!

Too big for a Siata?? Those side vents should help identify, but I'm leaning towards a home built "special"....................

Wow, clean build! Mom had four Beetles over the years.........first USED in Germany in mid 1950's, traded in on NEW, brought to USA around 1960, met Dad, got prego, sold for a station wagon. Dad bought her another USED around 1968, but he mostly drove it to work, wore it out by early 1970's. Bought her a 1971 around 1982, I sometimes drove it to school. Mom got hit, was the second car I repaired (Dad paid to have it repainted). I also installed new heater boxes & a quiet header exhaust, but girlfriend at the time had a 1972, which I also installed heater boxes & a LOUD "Bugpipe" header exhaust! Unfortunately, Mom's had a dash wiring meltdown, so Dad scrapped it.
  17. If you are not particular about the exact trans gear ratio, just locate ANY 1977-1983 280Z/280ZX 5speed! The three possible ratio's are actually all pretty close...............it's usually a pretty serious car guy looking specifically for the "close ratio" 5speed. You will also pay more for the "close ratio" if the seller knows what it is! You mentioned you are "still learning". Yes the "close ratio" is a little better, but I bet you wouldn't notice with one of the other two! There is a later 1981-newer NAPZ 5speed that came in the 720 truck & the 1981-newer cars that can be used, but you MUST swap to the earlier 1972-1979 4speed bellhousing or the 1977-1983 5speed bellhousing. If you find something & not sure, take a clear pic from the rear of the trans to the front, at a slight angle from the top. One of us should be able to tell you what you have! There are NO NUMBERS or markings to identify...........it's all visual ques!! ๐Ÿ˜† Also, as a self proclaimed "still learning" (newbie!!), just an FYI you can NOT tell if a trans is good by only shifting it!! I hear it all the time............."this trans shifts fine (sitting on the ground)!". Means NOTHING!! You either DRIVE the car it is coming out of before pulling it out, get proof it was rebuilt with an invoice OR you should assume that these 40++ year old transmissions are worn or damaged. I also hear "It worked fine before I pulled it!", which you either trust the seller or not! Rebuild kits are available online, but rebuilding is not for the faint of heart...........they are kinda complicated, LOTS of little parts inside! You can always toss a USED trans in & cross yer fingers, if you don't mind the labor, but too often the bearings & synchro's are worn out, thus requires a rebuild!

We mount on the inner fender, like you did. Our race cars are running at top temps, especially in the midwest in the summer heat!! I agree with Mike, a street car would likely be fine without the heat sink, but iirc it is not expensive & just a good safegaurd! As Stoffregen mentions, they are online (my old boss would order them, so I can ask if you can't find!)
  19. In the long run, having Redhead Steering Gear rebuild a stock steering box will likely be the cheapest..............not cheap, but the cheapest in the long run. Was just talking about converting 510's to rack & pinion (510 steering is similar to the 620)............JB Coachweks just closed down, they were the only company I know of making a rack kit for the 510. The amount of proper fabrication, with LOTS of math geometry etc, is kinda staggering for the inexperienced (have no idea what your fab skills are). My old boss was a master at custom suspension/steering geometry in race cars, but the cost was staggering! The issue with a Z car rack is that there are no parts available any more & many are worn out. I have heard of Mustang II, Ford Escort, Ford Pinto, Toyota MR2 racks being used in all sorts of restomod cars, but I've never seen anybody doing anything in a 620..............NOT saying hasn't been done!

We run the mag pick up EI dizzy's with a GM HEI ignitor/amplifier.................easy to wire, all info online. We also buy the original GM aluminum "heat sink" base for the HEI ignitor, to allow a little air flow to keep it cool. You can even use the earlier 260Z DUAL mag pick up dizzy, remove one of the pick up's (keep as a spare). The only thing you would need to mess with for a street car set up is the vac advance...........we run centrifical (no vacuum) cuz on vintage race cars with heavy cam & Weber dcoe's..............
  21. Wow, that thing is SOLID for an east coast car!! The best repair panels BY FAR are out of kfvintagejdm.com. Hes has the battery tray, the firewall section & the inner fender under the battery tray! The race/resto shop where I used to work has a few dark blue Z's, two are a late model Nissan truck blue! Check out Ignite Performance in Arvada CO on Facebook..........I think the website is down!
  22. You should be able to find something there!
  23. Always best to know YOUR location, cuz many people do not want to ship these, cuz they are so big bulky heavy!
  24. Make sure a seller knows exactly what THEY might have, as the USA spec A87 from the L18's were small port OPEN chamber.............only the true JDM A87's were big port PEANUT/CLOSED chamber. The JDM A87's are around, cuz plenty were imported, but to alot of people with A87 castings, they think they are all the same! Just an FYI!
  25. The 68-72 510 Wagon had a triangular flat piece of steel welded in that corner, to help stiffen up the chassis for the added weight of the Wagon! I have seen the same thing done on track cars. For street driving, it is likely a waste of time, but hey, if ya got a welder..............!! If you want a pic (I have a Wagon parts car with the fenders off), send me your text or email, cuz I don't do pics here on Ratsun!
