Description

Hi everyone. I am in desperate need of a A87 closed chamber head. I took mine to have some valve guides replaced and the shop screwed up and broke it. I am trying to find what ever is out there either a good working head or a good rebuildable one. what do you have

Unless you want a closed chamber head for the compression you could substitute a more common U67 head from any ''75-'77 L20B. Larger valves and ports. You would only need to drill two 3/8th inch holes for the coolant flow into the 'wet' intake.

 

It's an open chamber head but if rebuilding, shave 0.7mm or 0.027" off and you have the same compression ratio.

Thanks for the info Mike .I am sticking with the A87. I have another  A87 but not the closed Chamber but needs too much work. the open chamber gives you more compression as well.

Make sure a seller knows exactly what THEY might have, as the USA spec A87 from the L18's were small port OPEN chamber.............only the true JDM A87's were big port PEANUT/CLOSED chamber.  The JDM A87's are around, cuz plenty were imported, but to alot of people with A87 castings, they think they are all the same!  Just an FYI!
