  1. Replaced the steering wheel with a “fardi”fake nardi. Someone linked this adapter on Amazon and that it works on a 521 with the minimum gap. All 521 aftermarket wheels give you excess gap and unfortunately this wasn’t much different dang! The wheel looks pretty cool tho… then to make matters worse I decided to drive it to the gym for it’s first spring drive today. Forgot to tie down the battery, it fell into the engine bay and exploded the brake line and cought on fire! Luckily I was only going like 5mph when it happened because I lost all brakes! With no e brake. I popped the clutch to make it stop and stuck my foot out the door lol 😂… time to learn how to make brake lines I’ve never done it before.
  2. haha that's pretty cool. Might have to watch that. New Zealand actually comes out with some pretty good low budget films sometimes.
  3. haha negative we have a lot of good folks in idaho.
  4. I'll have pics tomorrow or next day fingers crossed we have 44's.
  5. An older man drove by my house and saw my datsuns so he stopped at my house. He used to work at the datsun dealer in my town installing aftermarket AC systems from 68 ish to 72. He used to build and race 1200's. I ended up buying a nice set of mikuni carbs and intake for my 510 from him, as well as a built head for a 1200 race car. Built in the late 70's so it has been sitting forever but it's all brand new. He says it is a jdm larger valve head, it has a 290 cam I have all the specs for it written down if anyone is interested. Nice polished valve cover. I have not had a chance to look at it much yet just saw it sitting in the corner of his shop need to go back and pick it up. Also got a 1200 block with it but it is missing its crank and rods etc just the block. So I plan on running this rebuilt head on my A14 block with the .030 over pistons I have and nismo head gasket.. I'll post pics of head when I grab it.
  6. I just picked up some dual mikuni carbs, and an L series intake for a steal of a deal. A guy came by my house after seeing the Datsuns sitting in the driveway, said he had some old race parts laying around he'd sell. Ended up getting a jdm bigger valve 1200 head with 290 duration cam, completely rebuilt and never ran to put in my b210. And the mikuni carbs. He says the mikuni carbs are rare 48mm jdm market only carbs. He really knows his stuff so I want to believe this but I can't find info on a 48mm mikuni, maybe they are 44mm or 50 and he is mistaken? Either way these carbs have determined that I won't be swapping the engine in this car and just running a mild build L20b. Can anyone help Identify a vintage set of mikuni carbs? @Stoffregen Motorsports I don't want to source z22 or z20 parts or anything fancy. Could you help me plan or give me some recommendations for a reasonable L20b build that can handle these carbs? I just want to make like 140-150hp. If they are in fact 48mm or 50mm will that be too much carb for an l20b? I thought maybe 2.1 long rod, but the only z20 rods I can find are $600. So probably just bore the block over with oversized l28 pistons like 87mm total size or something. Then probably just spend a lot of time porting an open chamber head with bigger valves and a cam. I don't know if this will be enough engine for these carbs though.
  7. just dished. Flat tops getting very hard to find. They have 40 over dished ones currently in stock. That's 1mm over
  8. rock auto has l28 pistons in standard or oversize variety in stock,
  9. It’s pretty quiet in all the gears but no I think it’s about the same. Loud only while idling in neutral with foot off clutch.
  10. I have a 1989 chevy truck 4.3 2wd 5speed long bed. It is my datsun support vehicle. It has low mileage 120k Runs and drives great, except for input shaft bearing noise that the transmission is making. At idle it makes noise press in the clutch it goes away (opposite of a bad throw-out bearing symptom) I feel pretty confident that if just the input shaft bearing was replaced it would be a good transmission. Shifts and drives great. Transmission is the 5lm60. Do you think this is an easy diy job splitting the tranny, swapping bearing, and putting back together? Trying to get away with not buying a new transmission and just servicing this one myself. I barely have money for the Datsun projects last thing I want to do is put money into a chevy 😉. I ask on ratsun because you guys know your shit, can't find a single chevy forum or video where someone has tackled this job.
  11. centerlines, eagle alloys, weld, pretty much any "billet" wheel in a 15,16,or 17.
  12. cool thanks. Glad Datsun's have so much carryover.
  13. Are the steering column split collars the same on all the Datsuns? I need some for the 521 wondering if these z car ones fit the same?
  14. Do you think this is a tacky idea? get some trailer lights off eBay or Amazon like these and either fill the original tail light buckets with a sheet of metal on the inside or make a simple roll pan and cut holes for these? Been contemplating doing it so I don’t have to spend an arm and a leg on crack free lenses. The sequencial feature would be kinda neat as well…
  15. No I have not been back but I can go back
  16. I can look send me a pm with what you need
  17. Im more interested in what bushings you used to mount these trophies. They look super solid upside down! lol
  18. well it looks like a metal pole went through the valve cover and broke much of the valve train, the head may be ok but I'm assuming the cam, rockers etc are not so much looked pretty mangled in there through the hole in the valve cover.
  19. There is a 1978 HL510 in the yard near me. I already grabbed the NON matchbox dizzy off of it (the one you need a chevy hei or the seperate box to run). Wondering what else is worth grabbing? Its complete, front end damage hurt the valve cover and the cam/rockers etc (big hole in valve cover)... Do these crossmembers bolt into the old 510's? same oil pan and pickup? I shifted through the gears and I'm pretty sure its a 4 speed but I guess I wasn't really thinking about how the doglegs have reverse in the wrong spot so I should probably recheck that.
  20. Rx8 trans adapted to k24.. this is the way
  21. Im going to spend the next 4 years trying to convince you to body and paint my 510 what’s your number? Lol 😂
  22. Hi welcome.. your best bet is to just read peoples project threads on here, search any question you have in google followed by the word “ratsun” and chances are someone has asked whatever question you have multiple times and you’ll find your answer. People are very helpful on here if you can’t search for the answer to your question someone knows the answer.
