  2. @ggzillaCan you please give me a step by step on how you did a crank fired igntion on your a12? I tried to message you but does not work. I want to run my a12 cam in my a14 but is not going to spin my distributor. I read that you were able to make a setup for $125 years ago, I would love to recreate it. My research has came up with this. I need ford edis4 setup from like an escort at the junkyard, should run without megajolt, but need megajolt to make power and have it run good right? Megajolt is $300 makes me wonder if its smarter to get megasquirt or something in case I want to run some dcoe throttlebodies and make it fuel injected.
  3. You know what I just realized. I can't use my cool vintage race cam because the motor it is out of is a front distributor a12. There is probably no gear in the middle for the a14 distributor location. I am going to look at cam to verify but probably cannot run. Will need to sell it to buy a delta reground cam.
  4. removed the exhaust manifold to fix exhaust leak. Drilled out stripped studs, need to replace with bolts and reassemble with the new gasket hopefully it doesn’t leak anymore

  7. Looked up WTB scam. Its a common thing. Chance my bank will be able to do a "charge back" chance paypal will be able to do something claiming "unauthorized account access"... If either option does not work I learned a lesson I guess... 1. SCAMMERS have been known to message WTB users directly. BEWARE. * You should require paying via PayPal Goods & Services. Scammers don't want you to use services that offer refunds. * Never use Zelle or PayPal Friends & Family, which leaves you with no recourse to get a refund. * Check out who you are doing business with. Do they have other posts? Read them. Have they done other business in the Market Place? How long have they been a member? * See this post for more information.   8. Yeah. my WTB also got response from a couple bigger members like Kelmo whom I know is obviously legit. I guess my guard was just down because I don't expect scammers on our little niche datsun hobby board. Everyone has always been super awesome on here as far as buying and selling gos. I once wrapped up and shipped a whole 620 bench seat for a guy. 13 years of buying and selling parts on here never a bad interaction... my guard was just super down... Ugh.. 🤦‍♂️
  9. Hey be warned I just got scammed on here. I have a WTB for A14 header and intake mani. He messaged me and said he knows a guy with both an intake and header and I should shoot him an email. Email seemed normal. I emailed and he said yeah he has them a rare Nissan Competition header and an egi intake. Seemed legit he knew datsun lingo and seemed nice said he would help me if I needed anything else for my project etc. Asked where I was located said he was in texas and would ship if I paid shipping. I asked if he did paypal or venmo etc. Was not any different than any other transaction I have done with ratsun members. After I had a weird feeling checked the user out, new account one post. That seemed fishy so I went back and emailed the guy and said hey the user that gave me your info is new and only has one post just want to make sure this isn't a scam? His defensive response was in broken English, said he isn't trying to "Eat" my funds lol but is not refunding me says "I will refund you in the morning".. Obviously a scammer and I am out $400... I am usually pretty good at seeing these things coming, this guy was good. Hope I can get a refund, probably won't. Won't ever click "friends and family" again on paypal! User: Roble78

  13. I hear ya . I realize all of these things as well. Who wants to leave here and move to kentucky or somewhere sounds horrible. I lived in puerto rico for a couple years and It was pretty cool and cheap just no jobs. But houses are crazy cheap and no capital gains tax so you could buy a few houses or do some airbnb rentals or something, so there might be a couple diamonds in the rough like that but yeah mostly shitty places with no jobs and bad economies.

  16. Next time I drive into oregon I am going to take note. I know I too have seen some funny random objects. In Idaho we don't have quite as many of them. I assume our police force ends up picking them up for one thing or another before long (public intoxication, trespassing, loitering etc.) We don't have quite as many and the ones we do have try to keep a much lower profile, (so they have less weird random things) As soon as you cross into Oregon there is A LOT. They all also seem to have a shopping cart full of stuff too. The only thing I can think of is last time I drove through Oregon we stayed in a hotel in bend. There was a whole homeless camp behind the hotel, they were listening to early 2000's hip hop and smoking weed late into the evening, and first thing in the morning you could smell they were cooking bacon and making coffee. I thought it was so crazy that they had so many amenities. We do have one little homeless camp in Boise, but they are forced to stay in that small area and it is right by the homeless center. They do not have near as many luxuries as the Oregon bums. If I am ever homeless I will probably have to become a liberal.

You stated earlier in this thread that these styles of intakes are not as efficient 90degree bends and all, and a straight through intake and carb will be more efficient, with my limited knowledge on automotive physics that makes obvious sense to even me. But if the 32/36 feeds enough feet of air a minute, what are the real world benefits of it being a straight through flow? I'm assuming its just the efficiency that the engine is getting the air. On an ultra high performance motor that seems like it could add a bit of horsepower, but on a little non crossflow motor like this it seems like it would not be that big of an improvement without doing major head flow work, bigger valves, etc. and the fuel probably atomizes better in an actual intake plenum. Am I right? edit: Found a thread on Ratsun talking about this, seems like its up for debate. I'll probably run the 32/36 weber with a rowland intake manifold and some headers.
  18. Also what about a weber 32/36? I read it will probably be too much off idle? Is is hard for me to comprehend how a standard weber would be too much carberator when people get away with running dual dcoe or phh carbs on these engines. Will a Weber 32/36 provide enough air flow at 8000rpm plus?
  19. Is one 40dcoe weber enough carb for this setup? is 2 40 dcoe carbs too much? thinking about getting one of these type intakes but unsure if I should go single carb or dual carb?
  20. We need those pics! You can post pics here with the add files button. It’s easier to do that on iPhone in my experience because it lets you do an automatic resize and upload them. Otherwise on pc you have to use Microsoft paint or some other program to resize them usually before you can post em.. i suggest figuring out how to do it on here vs a 3rd party site, but I’m still bitter about photobucket messing up all the project threads on here by deleting everyone’s photos or adding watermarks over them.
  21. Fuel level sender use the same ohms on a 620 as on a 510? temp gauge should function the same on the different style gauges I’m sure right? I am not too worried about heater blower control because I’m just going to hook up a small hotrod heater in the 510. I’m assuming that the wiper motor works the same on the different Datsuns
  22. Ok so I have a 2 door 510 that came stripped to paint and only came with half a harness the half that goes inside car and it’s already spliced and modified a bit. I have access to some rusty 620 trucks and I had the crazy idea of just stripping the wiring from a 620 labeling everything then installing it in the 510.. I have access to 3 complete 620 trucks without anything missing from any of them so I can remove everything I need from the best one….obviously I will have to work through some things like the tail lights etc will have to be spliced in probably. Possibly the 510 ignition switch will be different and I’ll have to run a push button start or something. Otherwise seems pretty straightforward as long as I get the whole harness.. any thoughts on things that might cause me an issue? I can keep the alternator, starter etc the same type as whatever wiring i use(internally regulated alternator wiring will have matching internally regulated alternator etc) Keep in mind this is not a restoration and I’m not caring about value of the car. I only care about function this is going to just be a fun drivers car. I have way more experience with 620 truck wiring than I do 510 wiring not that they are more complicated really I’m sure but I should know what I’m looking at with the 620 harness and I think that will make it easy.. Am I crazy?
