jesusno2
Made my own mounts so I could mount the motor back to give me plenty of room for radaitor Edited January 14, 2009 by ]2eDeYe Pic's :P Quote Link to comment
slodat
Looks good. I think you should box them on the bottom for strength. So they don't flex front to back... Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
X2 on the boxing. Looks real good though. How about some wider angles? :D Quote Link to comment
freaky510
sweet job i would also agree box them up amd could we get some more pics woot Quote Link to comment
BEEBANI
Apparently you guys have never looked at the ka stock motor mounts? Made exactly like that out of 10ga. material and not boxed in. His are out of 3/16" or 1/4" and way stronger. Also, there really isn't any front to back stress on that motor, just side to side. The 35 year old rubber is gonna fail before those mounts do.;) Quote Link to comment
freaky510
:eek:okay you called on that :fu::lol::lol: Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Apparently not :D I would still box them :P Quote Link to comment
fastdadd
you box them and it will make it a bitch to get to the bolts... Quote Link to comment
BEEBANI
Yeah, I just modified the stock ones on my truck, and they are solid as sears. The pics can be deceiving, but they are really strong mounts, way stronger than nissan ever made. Quote Link to comment
slodat
Understand. I'd still put a small boxing plate on the back side. It doesn't even need to run the full length. It will take the stress off the 90 degree angles where the welds are and distribute the load across the whole structure. But.. what the fuck do I know. I'm just a stupid engineer :D Quote Link to comment
comply
I agree with Slodat. Get something on there to help out! Looks good though! Quote Link to comment
BEEBANI
too bad the dumb homo that posted these up isn't here to put his .02 in. I hear ya Steve, the one plus the originals had over these is that they were one stamped piece with dimples (gussets) in the corners. Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Gussets would work too. Quote Link to comment
jesusno2
I don't have .02 cents I only got .01 cents so I m already up a creek without a paddle I can change them up some later I still gotta lot of other stuff on my plate like a raditor to get gotta get my fuel system ready to go, hoses, throttle cable, wiring. at least its mounted and not suspended buy a cherry picker now. Icehouse
I think they are fine, like Beebani said its not front and back movement that is the worries me, its side to side. If you guys were to sell the mounts like that that move the ka back (If I had a 510 with a KA I would buy them!) I would add something to tie them together just to make the bolt spacing stay the same... Just a though, the SR mounts are just stamped sheet metal as well. Quote Link to comment
thisismatt
Omg box that sh#$ :D Edited January 15, 2009 by thisismatt Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
^ That's some funny shit  I think they are fine, like Beebani said its not front and back movement that is the worries me, its side to side. What about when you have to slam on the brakes? If I was welding my new mounts...I would gusset or box. My welding is good and all, but it's cheap insurance against them failing and ruining all my hard work :D Quote Link to comment
Duke
I didn't box mine, and I am not worried about their strenght one bit. Quote Link to comment
WagDatto
I wouldn't worry about it. You've got a tranny mount, a drive shaft, rear diff all working in your favor to keep it from nudging forward. You shouldnt have a signle issue, they look dope! Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
I didn't box mine, and I am not worried about their strenght one bit. I wouldn't worry about yours either :D on the other hand...if I was to weld some up  Quote Link to comment
djlotus
Yeah, I might be inclined to purchase a set of those if they were up for sale, so long as they were affordable. Lookin good though. Quote Link to comment
