old521
Hello folks. Think this is the first post I have ever made on the forum over several years. Always been 'shy'. Retired a few years ago. Have a couple 521's still. Years ago; I had a 510. I bought extra windows for it, and a back shelf. I stored the windows up in the attic. Do not remember how many, or if there is a windshield, or back window or not. Seems like I put a windshield up there, because it was a 'bear' getting it up there. I think I put up all the other windows too. I lost the 510. Have owned about 30 or more different vehicles over the years. I do not remember what year it was. We may be moving before I 'croak'; so was wondering if someone might be interested. But..I do not remember what year it was. I think it was a two door. Is there some site any of you know of, that I can look at, that might help me remember which year it was? Sorry, to take up your time, but. Just thought perhaps someone may be interested. But it would 'help' if I could find a picture to help me remind me of what year it was! I went through a lot of trouble getting the glass out of cars in wrecking yards, so they go back a few years. I have a 'habit' of getting 'spare parts' for vehicles, you might say! I am not going to attempt to 'ship' anything. I live in Portland. I do not know how to ship glass. I don't know. Maybe they are not worth the trouble. The ..what I call the 'back shelf' is down here in the other room. About to throw it into the garbage, but it is in good condition. These are original parts. I have other vehicles that 'original' parts are hard to find. So; I know it is sometimes difficult to do so. Thank you. Glenn Quote Link to comment
q-tip
The 510's look the same as far as glass goes from 68-73 and then from 78-81. Look at the "pics of your dime" thread to see some 68-73 models and under the other nissan/datsuns section there is one titles a-10's unite that will have the 78-81 models. Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Only the '68 has pivot positions worth noting. '69-73 were all the same. The '68 also has the rear license plate lamp mounted in the chrome bumper, the only year to do so. The tail lights were also different from all other years. Quote Link to comment
carterb
Maybe titled as a '69 but more than likely a '68 build. Did '68s have the door plate with the date stamp? 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Had a 7 year old '68... I don't remember. My first Datsun.... it was in '75. The interior light was on the B pillar by your left ear. Key was in the left side of the dash, but so was the '69 I think. I do remember the wipers swing being like my first car a '64 Dodge. The Canadian '68 had amber turn signals at the rear. Quote Link to comment
gBaeza
the original bill says that the car is a 1969 , but if the experts says something different, that's ok Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Back then it was common to write down the year it was purchased. Quote Link to comment
gBaeza
just in case u want to see it :D Quote Link to comment
KELMO
Just because this keeps popping up. The date on the paperwork is November of 1968, which probably means a build date of 1968. It would nice to know the build date. In another post and in the above pic, the VIN is stated as being "9L510"......that "9" should be a "P". With short VIN #'s like that, the first part tell what type of vehicle and the second part ends up being the "serial number".The VIN should be stamped or have a plate on the vehicle. The most obvious stamped VIN will be on the firewall just below the wiper or in that general region. The most obvious plate would be rivited to the dash on the drivers side and visible through the windshield. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
If built November '68 it's a '69 model year. The new '69s would have started around October of '68. The proof is in the pudding.... Only the '68 had wipers that meet in the middle and a rear license plate that was mounted in the rear bumper. The '68 tail lights with 6 mounting screws, are obviously different from the '69 and up that were all the same. There are no red rear side marker lights but the '69 had round ones, '70 and up were rectangular. Front seats did NOT have headrests on the '68 but '69 and up did. I believe the '68 heater controls are vertical horizontal but the '69 are horizontal vertical. I may be backwards on this. Quote Link to comment
carterb
'68 heater controls are horizontal. Another defining feature is the dip in the dash pad that matches the hood and trunk lid Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Yeah, the Canadian 510 didn't get the dip. Quote Link to comment
gBaeza
my dash has vertical heater controls Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Does it have round red side marker lights? Do the wiper arms swing in the same direction together? Quote Link to comment
