CJ's Dime
This post is over due but here goes. Discussing with my son before his 14th birthday we decided it would be a good project to build his first car together. My first car was a Datsun and what better than to keep the tradition going, so we set out to find a 510. We found that finding a 510 in the shape we would like for what we would like to spend wasn't going to be easy so we started with a rolling shell thanks to The510Keeper The body was fairly straight but the fender wells were already cut out so it was going to need some sheet metal work! more to come.... 5 Quote Link to comment

CJ's Dime
Ok, I know more pics! I have uploaded them all to Photobucket but i cant access it from my work computer to share them, hopefully i will remember to post a link tonight. Here is a list of what we have done in the last 18 months since we purchased it. Custom sheet metal flares The boy wire wheeled the car where it had bondo so thick it was cracking, we then banged all of the dents out and welded in new sheet metal where the car was rusted through. installed S14 KA24DE with matching 5 speed -we used the 620 mounts bolted to the stock KA mounts Just picked up a Can-Am box thanks to Jeff (hopefully this will be the next project - ugh wiring) shortened 510 coil overs up front, stock lowered new springs and shocks in the rear rebuilt the rear end with new wheel bearings all around picked up some MR2 1st gen seats and welded them to some stock seat rails picked up a 3 row aluminum radiator prepped and cleaned the stock tank to run an inline Walboro fuel pump sticking with stock brakes for now so 1st car we are on a budget :) we needed some window trim and found a clean set of 85 300ZX that fit the door almost perfect! not sure if the last link i posted worked or not but we have a bunch of build photos in the PhotoBucket album. Dolomite
When and where? Maybe we will have the 510 ready and cruze out. Send me some details! Folsom costco parking lot @ 9am, December 3rd. SacDat meets up and rolls as a group to the show, admission is one unwrapped toy to be donated to charity. Best part of the show is all the American iron crowd hating on the datsuns, they get disgusted when we take the club participation awards every year. Not sure about this year but datslocos came out in force last year. Its a great family friendly event. Quote Link to comment
