Crashtd420
Not much of an update.... I put those grommets in for the heater core and they worked pefectly.... 2 Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
2 steps closer.... got the heater core plumbed in and control valve installed... I now have heat... Not sure where I will mount the pull cable Yet .... but that's minor... I also have a functioning windshield washer sprayer now.. (never had one).. used one of those universal bags for now... actually works pretty good... Also I finally have someone coming by tomorrow to help install the windshield and back window. Should be able to install the wipers and rear view too before we are done.... And my friend doesn't know it yet but I am hoping to test fit the doors and fenders and get him to help me with the gaps... I only have a few items left on my list of things to do before I have to paint... Quote Link to comment
wayno
Paint it before you install the windows, then the metal will be sealed under the gasket. Quote Link to comment

wayno
Paint what? The whole truck like they did at the factory, my truck lost a windshield, when they replaced it they mentioned that the paint under the seal was great and I had no rust under it, they thought they would find rust holes, you cannot paint there once the windshield and rear window are in. The entire cab was stripped and then coated with por15 and then painted with a single stage urethane.... I think it will be ok.... 1 Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
I just have the fenders and doors to catch up to the cab, and some other pieces.. the bed is probably what threw you off... I did nothing to that just bolted it on... 1 Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
And when I took my windows out I was actually surprised to find no rust.... all my seals were gone front and back but the metal was perfect.... 1 Quote Link to comment
mainer311
Do you have new side window felt? I’m trying to find some. There’s a missing chunk in my driver’s side and it whistles going down the road. 1 Quote Link to comment
mainer311
Why is everything from Thailand? Seriously. 1 Quote Link to comment

There’s a missing chunk in my driver’s side and it whistles going down the road. Ya I have some new felt.... I couldn't tell you where I got it from. Or even how good or bad it is. it's been a couple years since I bought that... I've been crossing my fingers every time i go to install one of the seals I bought off eBay so far so good... I just go with who ever has the best rating for what I want and hope for the best. 1 Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
You were talking about the channel around the whole window right? Ya it's all from Thailand.... If you ment the ones that run across the bottom of the window.. those are a bit different... check the measurements and spacing of the clips.. I almoat bought some listed for the 521 the was a few inches to long... I think i orders those and the wing window rubber out of Australia.... 1 Quote Link to comment
mainer311
Yeah, the felt “c” channel that goes around the top. My vent window rubber isn’t too bad, and I honestly haven’t really bothered to check the felt strips at the bottom. 1 Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
Ya everything in my doors was junk.... I have new vent window rubber, door seals the felt and the wipers at the bottom going in.... and the felt is nothing special just went and looked. . I think you'll be ok with the Thailand stuff.. 1 Quote Link to comment
thisismatt
You can find the channel felt a few different places. I have some of the Thailand stuff and it has been fine, although something doesn't quite seem right with my driver side...like the glass is too narrow or the felt is "too far" in. Basically, the glass can move front/back and there's always a little bit of a gap. Originally my channels had an extra piece of chrome channel RTV glued in...I thought maybe the glass had been reground, but haven't had it out next to another piece to check yet. You'll want to pull the glass to replace the felt...it's a bit of a process but not too difficult. I used some 3M adhesive you can buy from your LAPS to install it. 1 Quote Link to comment
wayno
I use 510 channel felt in my 521s when I can find it cheap enough, I use early Datsun Roadster felt on everything else, it is expensive but that shit is awesome, there are no leaks with that stuff as when you roll the window down the inside portions come together and touch each other, and when you roll the window up it spreads apart again and makes a good seal. 1 Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
Made good progress today.. front and back windows are in... seals fit really good so I got lucky there.... Apparently didn't take a pic with the wiper arms on... but wipers are on... Also glued a puck in place on the windshield to mount a rear view mirror... maybe later I'll spend the money on a correct one later.... Oh also found this... Hung it up in the garage... 2 Quote Link to comment

Crashtd420
Which seals did you buy? The look to fit good. They did... I know it was an eBay purchase... I bought all the seals over 3 years ago... 1 Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
Just some pics of the wipers and mirror... the wipers arms were painted black semi gloss, I think I need some new blades. Ones I had seem a bit old.. I probably installed them 15 years ago.. In order to make the mirror work I mounted it upside down and was able to rotate the mirror so the day/night lever was still on the bottom.... 1 Quote Link to comment
mrbigtanker
Well the weather is getting tolerable... mid 40s after work means I can get stuff done .... I generally get an hour after work a couple days a week to get work done on the datsun before I gotta get inside to the family... Well today i smoothed over the holes and welded some bolts into the buppertettes... I was hoping they would be a little tighter to the lights and bottom of the bed but there they are... good enough for inspection... I do have some room on the bracket.... I still might slot the bolt hole and then I can probably get them atleast an 1/8 or so closer.... I got a set of taillights for you. In really good shape just had the frames powder coated, lens are good and back housings have a lot of life in them.PM me i might part with them. 1 Quote Link to comment

I appreciate the offer... i actually eventually wanna do a roll pan back there and maybe flush some round lights into it. Right now I'm just trying to use what I have to get back on the road And then I can modify and upgrade from there... 1 Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
A roll pan with 62-67 Corvette taillights would look cool. 1 Quote Link to comment

Those would work nice... probably closer to what it would actually look like... I always had a skylines taillights in my head when I think of it... 2 Quote Link to comment
