KiloTango1200
Ben there, done that. The first time is a lifetime high point. The 2nd time is a gigantic pain in the ass. I never want Air Force One to taxi on to my ramp ever again. Me and Air Force One at Cedar Rapids Iowa, after the big flood in 2008. 3 Quote Link to comment
wayno
Powered paragliding is about the same as regular paragliding, except it's a different wing, made for power, it's fairly safe as long as the pilot flies in no wind or very light wind in the morning, in wind or moderate thermal activity it becomes more dangerous, one thing everyone has to keep in mind, the powerpack weighs a lot, and one has to be able to run 15mph with 80lbs on their back, and you also have to land with 80lbs on your back also. I flew hanggliders for over 20 years, the only person I ever seen die flying was flying a paraglider, and he was the Canadian national champion, that day it was light thermal activity, he wanted to stay up, he was flying slow, to damned slow if you were to ask me, that was a sad day. :( I launched soon after that event, got up and left the area, they closed the mountain soon afterwards to extract the body via helicopter, but I was long gone by then. paradime
I've flown ultra-lites with a similar V-wing as a hang glider's, but that's nothing like parasailing, or hang gliding for that matter. That looks like crazy fun though. Everything has a risk, and as long as the reward is as high as the (manageable) risk... Game on. I like the feeling of being exposed and in the elementsd when flying. Same reason I like riding motorcycles. I'm like a dog in a car, I have to have the window down. 1 Quote Link to comment
