MikeRL411
re: Nazi scientists. Werner von Braun's theme song should have been the Beach Boys' "I get around!". I'm pretty sure the US would not have made it to the moon without his expertise and yeah I get that he was not an ideological national socialist but he certainly furthered their cause. I aimed for the moon but hit London on the way is often misquoted to Werner Von Braun, but it really sumes up his career! Quote Link to comment

RaptorReed
AC 206 did a good job hiding oil leaks on the paint, until we got up close and saw it all smeared down the side of the engine lol. This is why you have flight engineers, we didn't need pilots for maintenance turns, unless taxing out to the highpower spot in the middle of the airfield at Whidbey. 3 Quote Link to comment

He was pissed that the British would not sell him the Merlin, so went with Diamler Benz. If you look closely in "Battle of Britaon" and other fairly recent WW2 movies showing these birds ]ex Spanish AF] you will notice the upper cowl swell of the Merlin installation. 2 Quote Link to comment

KiloTango1200
One of my line guys was playing with his new camera phone. I was driving the tug and he was riding along as the tow bar bitch / wing walker. A really old but very pretty Gulfstream II. 3 Quote Link to comment

Jesse C.
Now you know how it was captured so easily... They belong in the leading edge of the wing... Some Butcher Birds had the Canons deleted from their wings depending on their operating demands. The FHC bird only has the inboard canons installed, the outer canons where deleted at the factory. But, they did keep their top mounted guns above the engine. Quote Link to comment

KiloTango1200
My buddies Mat and Phil have a father and son aircraft shop in Denton TX. They specialize in antique, radial engine aircraft. They went to Ft. Worth Meacham airport and walked in to the CAF hangar. They asked about volunteering mechanical services and the lead mechanic said, "We really have a lot of volunteers and are kind of full. Do you guys do prop balancing?" Phil said, " As a matter of fact, we do." They balanced the propellers on the B-29 "FIFI" and the B-24 "DIAMOND LIL". They are now part of the group, and they are going to take me with them next time. It helps your credibility when you taxi up in the yellow and white Cessna 195 company aircraft. It is in front of the C-47 in the first picture. 1 Quote Link to comment
