qwik510
So great to see this car on the road. Nice that you saved it. Sweet Ratsun Dime! The cowl hood is a laugh. I don't know if I would keep it though. Might attract too much unwanted attention. 1 Quote Link to comment
hoodradKyle
it's definitely something  That cowl hood is majestic. It's a ratsun alright, the hood will 100% attract too much unwanted attention, but Ill hang on to it and run it every once and a while for a good laugh. So great to see this car on the road. Nice that you saved it. Sweet Ratsun Dime! The cowl hood is a laugh. I don't know if I would keep it though. Might attract too much unwanted attention. Whats the windshield banner say? I was told it says beat off style or more directly translated "the style in which you beat off". All my friends have one as well, its mainly for laughs and it looks cool. I don't personally have the best pictures of their cars, but here's the roll call. Tom has the blue 240 with an SR,Danger has the white 240 vert, Doug has the Ferrari yellow 240 with an SR, Nick has the 86 coupe he's planning a CA18 in, Trent has the Lexus is300, Eric with the Evo and Ehrik has the two tone 240 coupe that I got the single cam for the truck, it from now with a CA18. hoodradKyle
I bought some more wheels for the 510 a couple months ago that finally got here from japan. I got mkiii's, dunlop meshies, Longchamp M1's, and some 4 spoke mystery wheels with enkei centercaps. I was so excited I decided to just order 8 tires and get them all mounted at once. They fit in the wagon fine without tires mounted, but it was a bit more crowded with my welder and all 8 mounted. I might need to start sellling off some of the z car wheels though..running out of storage space Finally got around to installing a second set of hood pins, I didn't want to use the hinges because its nice to take the hood off when its hot or to work on it. I also didn't want to drill into the fender or cowl just to mount hood pins. So I made brackets and bolted them in place where the hinges normally mounted, worked pretty well they're mostly straight I promise(I had a fisheye lens on) Snap a bay shot while I had the fisheye on, kinda shows the bracket placement as well These came in the mail a couple weeks ago as well(redeye KA mounts) The shop still is having issues with power(40yr old wiring and a leaky roof) So putting the motor in by flashlight was an added challenge, but we got it done. That's pretty much where I stopped though, the truck is going to be more of a winter project than I was intending. The lack of power is forcing me to search for a new shop and I don't have a whole lot of motivation to work on it currently. Hopefully I will have a new location to work on it shortly 3 Quote Link to comment

hoodradKyle
Sweet! Where did you order the wheels from? Just off yahoo auction japan, a buddy of mine organized a group buy of sorts through repezen gk. We had tomo (the middle man) place the bids for us then put all the items we ordered in one freight container to save on shipping (since it really adds up to get stuff to the east coast) Quote Link to comment
Spoona_Jay21
I absolutely love this car, and the things you have done to her. Fave Dime by far. 1 Quote Link to comment
hoodradKyle
no updates, but here's a pic dump for anyone who likes looking at my car also some bonus datsuns from h2oi. we ended up getting almost all the datsuns in one spot on saturday night. There were probably 5-7 s30's, two 510 wagons, a 620, and fairlady roadster with a SR making close to 400hp. All photos are property of their respective owners. it was rad to see so many datsuns this year also still looking for a shop to store/work on the car and truck this winter. In the meantime I'm hoping to bring the 620 home this weekend, since I cant really work on it at its current location 1 Quote Link to comment

hoodradKyle
We finally got a shop. Should be plenty of room even after we add Keegan's 260 Also pulled the L24 from fin's 810 to make room for the VH45 Picked up some rusty chevy rally wheels for $40 match the truck perfect, wrapped them in 225/50's Haven't done much else other than get it in there, but the KA looks like it belongs there. 1 Quote Link to comment

hoodradKyle
nice builds man  .QUESTION. what size tires are you running on your red ssr's ? Other than the Longchamps which are 185/55/14, all my tires are 165/60/14's thats a nice looking shop area. plenty of space to move around. Get yourself a big space heater and your good to go for winter… Ah I don't miss east coast winters now that I am out in CA Yeah, its might be a little rough once it really gets cold, but that's the plan. Possibly an infrared heater, we have one at the house and it works really well here's a pic, thread bumps with no pictures are boring Honestly my favorite photo of my car right now, and maybe even one of my favorite film pics I've ever taken 1 Quote Link to comment

hoodradKyle
Haven't updated in awhile since I hadn't gotten anything done until recently. Instead of working on the two datsun's I already own I bought two more, a 1980 720 with a shortened 620 bed more of which can be found here and a mint 1981 210 Which can be found here Plans for both are kinda mixed and currently up in the air. The 210 will probably be lowered and left as stock as possible. As for the truck hopefully I can get it running and take it off some jumps. Wouldn't be a proper update unless I had something to say about at least one of the vehicles in this thread so here's what little work I've gotten done on the 620. Got the rad support welded back in Then I set to work on getting the floor pan patched up, it was in much better shape than the 510 so I tried to leave as much on the original sheet metal as possible. I removed the panel that was holding the lug wrench because it evidently held water and rotted out the trans tunnel underneath of it. Not sure if it was a structural brace, but I'm going go without it for now. Floor is mostly done, I just want to finish welding in the trans tunnel and go the over drivers side in some spots. Also need to work on the LF cab mount. Next will be wiring to get the KA running as well as check any issues with the body harness. My buddy had a great idea of hanging a fluorescent light in the cab to have enough light to trace wiring and such, worked out nicely. As for the 510 I haven't worked on it in a month or more. Pulled the suspension off and am planning to order some new inserts, springs and coilovers for the rear. I ordered steel coil sleeves that I'm planning to weld on the ZX tubes after I shorten them to match the shocks I get. I'm leaning towards mr2 AGX's and running really stiff springs to help stop my subframe from bouncing off the ground so much. Also Hoping to order adjustable LCA's and TC rods when I get paid next week. Hopefully I can keep motivated and get the truck on the road and the car lower before spring is over. 3 Quote Link to comment
hoodradKyle
Got some parts this week for the 510, Futofab control arms, TC rods, and extended lug studs. Got started tearing apart the front suspension. TC rod bushings looked a little rough but not as bad as some Tore down the struts because I was already tearing down an extra set for the 210 Planning to rebuild the calipers for both as well 3 Quote Link to comment

hoodradKyle
Any updates? Really diggin your style, cars and this thread! Super rad keep it up Thanks man! Not much to update on the 510 or the 620 sadly. I sold the green truck and bought a winter beater for $800 Runs, drives, and is inspected until march . 4wd even works! Nothing Nissan about it, but 4x4 hard-bodies hold their value too much. Its a 1987 Mazda b2600 that came equipped with a Mitsubishi power-train, a carb'd 4g54 to be specific. Needs a few things sorted out, but I love how 80/90's it is. I did finally get around to trying the wheels I bought for the 620 on. here's a super low quality bonus pic: 2 Quote Link to comment
mattyhacks71
Still like those Mazda pickups. My first car was a B22 extended cab 2 Quote Link to comment

hoodradKyle
Might be obvious to most since I haven't updated this thread in a year, but nothing has changed with any of my cars. :hmm: Sold the Mazda to a buddy who wanted it more than I did and picked up another 80's pickup to fulfill the daily beater requirement. A 1988 Chevy s10 to be specific. Bought my first home, a foreclosed fixer-upper with a decent garage, and a rusty early mini from a buddy. Decided to change the thread title given the addition of the mini so if I make any progress on any of these cars I can just add it in here, but here's some pics to at least keep this thread somewhat visually interesting even if nothing get done. 4 Quote Link to comment
mrbigtanker
Love the Chevy S-10. Single cab short beds are to find. And new house is always good. Garage got some room. 1 Quote Link to comment
