Son_of_a_Datsun_Guy
Which Lamborghini is that? Maybe it's just hard to tell at that angle. Their newest model, the Huracan, is super cool though. Good lines, not ridiculously ugly, but still edgy. Quote Link to comment

KlassicMotion
Everything looks good in silver.... except 510s Unless your 510 is silver, in which case I love it anyways.... ;) Almost true. I just bought another Opel GT. I've been shopping for colors, and I'm reminded that Opel GT's do not look that good in "plain" silver..... Silvers with some grey, or blue pigments look alright. Case in point: Though it may not be "ugly", it just doesn't work that well.... Some wheels and stance do help a little: At least not compared to these: Silver yes, but I think there is some pigment added to this one: I'm leaning towards Blue if you couldn't tell! Or that last Silver/Grey, would be nice... 1 Quote Link to comment

KlassicMotion
So much fender.. why haven't any of those guys really filled it up? As you know, the best way to fill up the fender well, is to lower the suspension and I haven't seen too many that are lowered... I don't know why  ... The GT has coil springs in the rear, but mono-leaf up front. There just doesn't seem to be anybody making aftermarket suspension parts for them.... I've only just driven my other GT's. This will be the first I modify and play with... (Meaning, I will have a better answer later). We'll see what happens, but I'm thinking it needs a VG30 or VG33.... 1 Quote Link to comment
captaingamez
VQ, that thing doesnt need the weight of the VG, bastards are heavy. Those are such sweet cars, that was my fathers first car actually. And of course, like many Opel drivers, he wrecked it. He was coming home, speeding, and some drunk ran a red light and thrwe the car around several times and into his neighbors porch, destroying the porch and putting him right against their living room window. He told me he could see their TV clearly and they wetre watching Bob Hope, lol. A few weeks later, the insurance company paid the neighbors and they replaced their rickety old wood porch with a brand new fancy concrete one, guess they did a number on the insurance company. 72240z
Me... I wouldnt want one. They are like models, they photograph well but in person they are all out of proportion. Aftermarket support sucks, hell most parts availability sucks as does their performance out of the box and the high cost of them doesnt even reflect that... Thats how I feel anyway lol 1 Quote Link to comment

KlassicMotion
Like anything, either you like them or you don't. Personally I think the rear of the car looks good... The front, not so much. But for me the 510 looks aren't perfect either.... I have issues with how the hood on the 510 can look out of proportion and stubby from certain angles. Also, the Bluebird Coupe roof, looks like a bad chop job from certain angles..... I haven't found one car that has perfect body lines from all angles.... Except maybe the 1965 Mustang Fastback.... VQ, that thing doesnt need the weight of the VG, bastards are heavy. The stock GT 1.9L weighs 300lbs. The VG30 weighs 350lbs.... And like the L series in the 510, the VG would put less weight forward of the front wheels... Plus I think the VQ is a bigger engine to squeeze in, isn't it? Also, I want to go carbureted for that "clean" look, and Dave Carrol sells a carbed intake for the VG. ....... sucks as does their performance out of the box and the high cost of them doesnt even reflect that... Actually, depending on the year, their power is rated almost the same as an L20B, and they are in the same price bracket as the 510. In truth, I've seen more nice driver GT's priced lower than comparable condition 510's... Maybe you were comparing the GT to the 240Z?.... But the GT is in the same class as the 510, where as the 240Z is in a class of it's own, so that's just apples to oranges. No doubt the 240Z is a great car and a great buy. And definitely on my hit list. I like the challenge of building a car to look and drive better than stock. The GT is a good challenge. Plus, the GT was my first and third cars. I drove them through high school, before I knew anything about modding cars... or had the money to mod them.... Quote Link to comment
72240z
The VQ is indeed much bigger, I would be surprised if one would fit in a gt after 1st hand experiencing how hard it is to shoe horn into a z or s chassis. I wasn't comparing the GT to anything really though I would disagree with the class system your using lol. The 510 is in grocery getter class...I would call that comparison apples and oranges. Which makes a good point about the gts lack of performance. Datsuns grocery getter has a way better suspension then opels gt sports car. The Gt is faster to 60mph but 0-60 in 10.6 seconds is nothing to be proud about. Road and track even found it to have bad understeer... The larger, higher comp engine option put out decent power for its displacement and the time but thats about all its got going for it. The Z is def a step up though I agree with that. I think just about any datsun is though.I'm just discussing for convo's sake, can definitely see why people like the car and I bet with a modern power plant and some serious suspension mods the car could be really fun to whip around. 1 Quote Link to comment
