CharlieBucket
looks great, i think the tray would look good black, but i imagine it would get pretty hot in the summer! looks good as is, love the reverse racing strip hood. very cool how you just made your own tray. Quote Link to comment
moparvwfreak
lookin good man! not a fan of the single offset stripe but hey, if you like it, more power to ya :D Quote Link to comment
Bluterus
I wasn't much of a fan with the stripe but my mate gave me the idea and I don't think its too bad. Anyways here's a picture with mirrors on, fender badges, handles all thats left is fit driving lights, tint, carpet and door locks. I know the fender mirrors aren't original or mounted in the original place but I think they look better than up on the doors. Quote Link to comment
Bluterus
At the moment now the painting is done and driving it the past 2 days I really think it needs a 4 speed badly. I drive home 15miles on a 60mph road and It doesn't like to sit on 60 its screaming. So since it has the J15 I'm thinking of dropping in an L18 so I wont have as big of a task as fitting it in. I was originally thinking CA18 or SR20 but I really don't want to have to do many modifications and worry computers and efi. So I'm going to start my search for an L18 fit that in and hopefully see if I can get away with a smaller radiator with a front mounted thermo fan. If not I'll just change the core support to fit but I don't really want to have to do much more work than that like cutting trans tunnels, modifying x member's and so on and so forth. Bluterus
Hey people so don't know if anyones really read my thread. Anyways I've managed to locate a good L20B with a 5 Speed out of a series 1 bluebird with a bigger cam so I'll be dropping it in over the next few weeks. I really want to lower the ute however as I think it sits way too high what are your opinions drop it or leave it? Here are some pics of the motor. Quote Link to comment
Phlebmaster
Hahaha...nice motor! Yes we do read your thread. :D I think you should leave the suspension where it sits now. Looks good. Quote Link to comment
peanut2425
haha, that moter is still on ebay, you still might be outbid yet. I think with the look you have going you should leave it where it is. Quote Link to comment

Yes it still is on there but I asked the kind fellow if he could end the auction early which he's agreed to so I'll be picking the motor up this weekend! I've been chasing a motor for soo long and there's nothing in Victoria Sydney was the closest decent one I've found. Luckily I use to live in Newcastle so I got a mate picking it up for me. Bandit240
Your truck has given me ideas for mine. I want to build a flatbed for mine, but i can't weld worth shit. The colour is great. Thinking mine might end up very close to yours. Quote Link to comment

Cheers man its greatly appreciated! It's soo hard finding parts for em it seems every ute that comes up for sale is in QLD none in Vic. How have you gone about running discs on the rear? I was going to use the 720 calipers and some slotted discs for the front but not sure what rear end would fit. Quote Link to comment

The colour is great. Thinking mine might end up very close to yours. I don't like the flatbed but I can't find a tub or watever it is you guys call it. But I thought if I'm going to have a tray it might as well be light it can be easily lifted with two people. If you'd like the paint code for the orange just let me know and I'll get it for you. I got my brother-in-law to pickup the motor and gearbox yesterday. Also got a 3 core radiator with thermo and Pacemaker extractors. Now I'm trying to toss up which way I wanna go with it. I've never had a 4 cylinder that I've modified before so curious as to the difference between DCOE 40's and Standard SSS Hitachi SU's would the twin 40's produce much more power than the SU's? Bluterus
Last night on the way home I had someone pull out in front of me and this was the end result. I'm so devastated! Anyways I'll watch ebay for a little while to see if I can get another one but I've rarely seen them in my state. So if not I'll part it out since I have all new lights and the ali tray and what not. dat620
dude sorry to see that, and just after gettin her done, r u ok, any one hurt, back in 91 i had just finished my 78 620, only had her done for 36 hrs, a drunk blew thru a red light and took the front end over 1.5 feet, that was devastating, but took my time, straighted the frame and put new core support and inner and outer fenders, and all the rest , now she sits in primer ready to be finished. ck it out and see if u can locate parts and rebuild, u and the others have insurance? it can be fixed. ezcruiser
Oh man, that is terrible. I'm sorry to hear/see that. Hope you are alright! If they had to hit you why couldn't they try the beefy flatbed :cursing:... Have you heard from insurance yet? I hope they take care of you and your truck Quote Link to comment

It does suck but oh well it happens. I don't know what I want to do yet I'd rather find another one and just throw the bits and pieces on but I really can't be bothered with another paint job just yet. I don't think insurance will bother with it being so old they'll just write it off I'm sure. I'm fine nothing happened to me except I said a very loud F*** when we hit. Gotta love the old datto motors though the lil J15 leaked all its water out after the fan went through the radiator but it got me 12kms home without over heating and the fan bashing the radiator the whole way.
