bananahamuck
I read 12-15 lbs and i go with about the low end of that , locktight is better than stripped threads.some books say 25 ft lbs but don't even think of tightening them that tight as they will strip very easy. Quote Link to comment
robopineapple
Thanks guys. was struggling to find it. should be done on sunday Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
I did one at 8lbs and stripped it. I ended up heli-coiling all the can tower holes. Quote Link to comment
mhub91
Speaking of stripped bolts...... Working on a 2011 4Runner at work. Had to remove the third row seats and replace entire rear interior panels that the customers dog chewed up.... Reinstalling the seats and 1 of 3 of the grade 11 1/2" bolts cross threaded into the body! Talk about cold sweats and a serious moment of OH FUCK! Got my impact gun, loc-title and a lock washer. Pounded that sucker in. 1 Quote Link to comment

bananahamuck
Your gear is on backwards ,, the V notches should be facing the notch in plate. But it should line up like that . I couldn't find a picture of one that was perfect .. just these. first one shows notches not quite lining up as they should. http://i408.photobucket.com/albums/pp162/oilslinger/Sprocketnotch.jpg http://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&docid=wOtf76Jv4APcaM&tbnid=FvCYCkZv4dQoQM:&ved=0CAUQjRw&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.zdriver.com%2Fforum%2F240z-280zxt-s30-s130-tech-tips-275%2Fcheck-adjust-l-timing-chain-stretch-l24-l26-l28-l28e-l28et-30099%2F&ei=S0hUU8j2JKPYyAGy8YEY&bvm=bv.65058239,d.aWc&psig=AFQjCNFp6AtFd39g1nUJXqDhPY9JVD3rHw&ust=1398118752484216 1 Quote Link to comment
robopineapple
Tensioner was held, but i still cant get the chain and the gear Quote Link to comment
robopineapple
Still cant get them on the cam shaft* Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
There is a dowel on the front of the cam. The sprocket is backwards so the holes are on the front now and it won't go on. Quote Link to comment
Fat510
you might want to try wiggling the cam back and forth to get it on. there is a square shaped thing on the camshaft so you could put a cresent wrench on it Quote Link to comment
THEa10wagonsss
dansvilles in new york and i have no idea what the wheels are i planned on returning the car to stock, first with the suspension and stock wheels i gotta get more rust taken care of though i did some sealing up so the rust wouldnt be provoked to keep eating at the car, And can anyone tell me if this is making the idle funny,^^^^^ i think its called the ab valve and its powered by vacuum, this one has no hoses on it or no hoses surrounding it to connect to, i know if the vacuum isnt completely sealed it will run funny but im not sure, maybe one of your cars you could compare a pic to see where the hoses are supposed to go to????? my dash has been eaten up by a saws all or something, i know stock radios are hard to find, maybe they arent and im looking in all the wrong places idk, Quote Link to comment
robopineapple
I flipped the gear, but it still wont go high enough. its like a half centemeter low. ill try wiggling the cam though Quote Link to comment
robopineapple
closes that i can get this darn thing -.- grrrr Quote Link to comment
bananahamuck
What kind of tensioner holder do you have ,, the plastic dick looking one?? Or wood wedge? If wood wedge the chain might have slightly bunched a tiny bit below the wedge .. Have you tried sticking something into gear hole and prying up against head. At the same time ( BEING VERY CAREFUL HERE) slightly pulling up on chain holder. To relieve chain tension. NOT all the way out just up a tiny bit. If it doesn't work push the wedge back down By slightly i mean a very, very tiny amount. I could post pics in morning of what i'm talkiing about as i have a engine on stand but garage is in lock down mode. Quote Link to comment
robopineapple
I used a one inch pvc pipe and it did the trick. i pulled the pipe out and held the chain so the tendioner wouldnt pop out while my brother did a full cicle on the crank to make sure it wasnt all bumched up like last time. i tried prying it and it wont get any closer. and its not like a link off, its like a quarter link off and i can find where to get it from lol. i struggle so hard at this Quote Link to comment
