Ok, since phototbucket decided to work again... ive got some progress...

2012-09-13_18-15-04_431.jpg

Didnt buy enough padding, had to wait. But, got some the next day...

Now, vintagerice says this was fun for him.... me, not so much .. i suggest to get some very sharp heavy duty scissors for the padding, mine seamed very dull and my hand paid the price with blisters and bruised ... the carpet was much easier to cut...

Its hard to tell from the picture, but there is a cut where the firewall and tranny tunnel come together. I might get another carpet and redo it . ...

Edit: this was definitely a learning experience, hopefully next time turns out better...

Ok, so im kinda on the fence with this... Wrapped the kick panel with carpet and with paddin underneath...

To me, it seems im losing the character of the truck... but it does kinda flow with the color of the dash... but, the stock kick panel flows nice with the door...

Comparison...

Oh, and while contemplating on even starting this, it just oponed on me that i had another set of scissors, poultry sheers... what a differnce, so pissed i didnt use these before. Cutting the padding was a breeze... my blistered and bruised hand would have never of happened ...

Now, ofcourse i started this with no planning. Before i started welding, I looked at a loose air filter and took it to the truck... no fit around the auto choke and the fuel inlet...

Gave up that day... but, today said fuck it and finished it.. if i want to use it im gonna need to run a manual choke or no choke...

Q-tip, Just Joel, and myself have been discussing the L20b air cleaner with a Weber install as well... Q is attempting it without cutting up the cleaner right now. We shall see how it works out. I can't weld, so I might hit you up when the L20 goes in my car.

Is that couch where JRock sleeps when he gets kicked out of the house?

i like my truck when i go to jons shop, im there late in the day, right as he is closing and as sun is dropping to the west, it washes out the impurities of the truck... jon always asks if i washed it... nope... then he asks, are you sure those arnt 18s?

and for some reason i like the blistered bondo scar... I just tell myself its a warrior wound from a samurai sword...

see i cant agree with either of those opinions i guess its cause i was raised around american muscle having a stock looking quiet car is over rated lol but more power to ya man i wanna see the finished product

as for choke there is no way to cut into the stock bottom and make a little hump so it clears?

Sorry, but I gotta agree with Phixius ....stock air cleaner on a weber is much nicer. Anyone can bolt on the rectangular weber filter and listen to annoying carb noise. I've modified a few and helped with a couple of others......and I'm sure I'll do another some day.

I agree, i love muscle cars, but datsuns arnt muscle cars... I think thats what they are discussing, larger dia. Air filter to be able to go around the fuel inlet and auto choke. And make the housing adapt to the new filter... if you make make thel16 as is, the filter wouldent set in...... but, if it was raised a little bit , it might work... i dont know if its nessecary to go as low as i did, might just need a 1/4 inch lower ...mkolts would be the one to hit up about it though, i think he was the first... and i dnt know the diffarances between the 510 and 521 clearances... making a datto run/sound like a newer car is quite challenging...

rod run to the end of the wolrd, is my favorite event. Theres a differance between "econobox, jap crap" and american muscle car...
