Phixius
Well, at the request of a whole one person, here is a little build threard for my brownie.. I dont have any pictures of when I first got it, those pictures got lost when i lost my cellphone... just imagine stock hight, and a step bumper, and dirty. barley ran and stopping was scary, no lights worked on it, among other things... this is the oldest picture I have of it lowered on 4" blocks and reindexed torsion bars, riding the bump stops Had to replace the fuse block. Then I traced down a faulty wire and replaced it all lights work now... Jumping ahead in time a little. test fitted some xterra wheels 17x8 To run these wheels I had take out my 4" blocks for some 3" blocks, then I swithed the leafs to 720 4x4 leafs... here is 3" blocks and stock leafs and 3" blocks and 720 leafs Then this happend.. which led to these wheels.. 1 Quote Link to comment
Phixius
sitched the wheels to stock steelies... Had to leave the truck at work during our little snow and ice storm... and some shots from the storm clean up... these are just actually branches around my mailbox.. Heres after I got the xterra wheels on... Had to switch out my studs and run spacers for those wheels.. Engine bay before.. engine bay after cleaning.. Made my stock air cleaner work on a weber... it fits now, I made this for the L16, but while making it, I guess I forgot that I was going to swap in a L20... doesnt fit now... 4 Quote Link to comment
mklotz70
I did the same air cleaner mod years ago for my wife's 521.....but when I did it for my wgn with the L20.....it rubbed the hood. So, I had to make a low rider version..... http://community.ratsun.net/topic/10977-stock-air-cleaner-to-weber-mod/#entry225674 I love those wheels. Not sure how I feel about them on them on the 521, but I do really like them. Glad you posted a build thread :) 2 Quote Link to comment
Phixius
While helping my mother move from kalama back to olympia (70 miles one way) I overheated, and blew a headgasket.. So, out with the old and in with the... still old, but newer... l16 and 4spd out... testing out the new hhydraulics... pulled the L20 and 5spd out of the 510, just need to put on the 521 oil pan, a weber, and saturn alt I tried installing the motor and trans bolted together first.. that didnt work, was too long... The next way I tried was motor bolted in, and tried to put the tranny in...nope, didnt work.. So, I took the motor out and put the trans in first... then the motor... Stock trans mount. modified mount. old valve cover off. new cover. heres the clearnace for the seat.. Time to make a new cover plate...btw, a 4 1/4 " hole saw worked perfect for the new hole. 2 Quote Link to comment

Phixius
So, last night I had another post all put together and just about to post it. My IBM thinkpad bitch slapped me and said, "NO!" and closed my browsers.. pissed me off, said fuck it and went to bed... started making a new post and saw the "View Auto Saved Content" Holyshit, this feature is awesome... anyways.. One piece drivelive Oh, and the L20 has got a 219 head on it, and the 5spd is a FS5C71B, more info on that tranny and how I found out... Thanks to datzenmike... here: http://community.rat...lp/page__st__40 Now for a little interior work. took out the dash.. gauges didnt work very well, found out why... so, I made one good one out of two... Swapped the dash pad for a 520 metal top, and left the texture bottom 521 dash, painted both. You can kinda see where I had to weld up three holes just left of the ashtray. No before pictures on this one either, im sure you can imagine a dashpad with multipule cracks and fading on the dash heres another clearance shot. This is with the shifter in 4th gear... Ive heard of people having to switch the stock bench out to a 620 seat or buckets when installing a 5spd. I dont know if you can do this with a 620 tranns, but I just installed the shift lever 180 out (backwards). only thing is 5th is a little of a reach, doesnt bother me though. I did notice the lever is doglegged towards the drive when installed correct, so now its away. bench seat reapulstry on the cheap... before. and after.. these are just thin fleece blankets I got for $5 a pc. they stick nicley to the cloth on the bench and Ive been using these blankets for a year now. the back one I almost never have to adjust, the bottom one I have to adjust every once in awhile, due to sliding in and out... SOUNDERS! and when I need to keep warm if...when, my datsun breaks down, Ill have two blankets and a scarf... 1 Quote Link to comment
bananahamuck
and when I need to keep warm if...when, my datsun breaks down, Ill have two blankets and a scarf... But im not so sure how many rides you will get dressed in them (example below) If you turn left on 113th and go to the other end and take another left that`s my junk on the right just around the corner. Glad you posted a build thread :) when you did your second one, how much did you recess it? I watched some of your vids, and think you mentioned 3/4". When I make my second one, I was thinking about having the front Y bracket line up. And thanks to Jrock, I scored another air cleaner to hack up, so hopefully I can start on it soon... Satchimo -- Future plans always change, and there is a big differnce between talking about them and actually doing them... its kinda funny when you see some threads with a "to do list" then reallity sets in and they change the list... but, then next thing is disc brakes. Jrock -- The 240sx is already in a couple pictures...but, heres another just for you. Banana -- kewl, now I can stalk you... but, I guess ill be easy to spot in me datsun seat attire. 1 Quote Link to comment
