converted_to_datsun
Went and bought a angle grinder today for future rust repair and welding needs. Started by testing one of the sanding discs on a fender I picked up for a good price.... Then I got carried away Ended up cuttin the welds where my tailgate was welded shut and grI ding the edges back to the way they should be My new toy Some fun on a fender I'm going to repair Sanded to see what I needed to cut The first side is free Thought the hinges were still there cause I could see the bolts... But it was a trick!!! Tailgate removed Not sure it's an improvement... But it's a start Probably going to get a new tailgate... Or save the one I have Tomorrow 5 speed swap! Quote Link to comment
izzo
You probably already know, but get an alignment anytime you adjust the torsion bars... Schwabs does it for me 27 dollars... but find where you want it, do it once, save some money in shop fees and tires... Ive killed a few set of tires, first time was my own doing not knowing it had to be done, other times i've bought a lowered truck and nobody had done it :sneaky: Quote Link to comment
converted_to_datsun
Thanks dude, I've been waiting on an alignment till I get new wheels with a different offset so I can finish lowering the front. It needs one for sure and I don't think it's had one for a very long time Quote Link to comment
izzo
Word! Soon as you adjust the torsion bars it messes with the toe in/out. might not wear out as fast if the road is wet lolz Quote Link to comment
converted_to_datsun
Still haven't done the 5 speed swap cause my jack sucks borrowed a better one now so soon it'll get done For now I picked up a set of NGk spark plugs cause it's more progress Also got a set of zx seats from draynor1995 to try out in my truck. Need different seat rails to fit and not sure they'll fit how I thought so we'll see Quote Link to comment

converted_to_datsun
Haha doesn't everyone? Today was a very very long day of progress. I finally did my 5 speed swap! I also replaced the rear main seal and trans output shaft seal while it was already torn apart. The old tranny was a bitch to get out of there and the new one didn't wanna go in the hole. So I got my revenge on the old crappy 4 speed and cut the shaft off it to make a clutch alignment tool and then the new one slid right in place. Then I bolted everything back together and put new gear oil in the tranny and oil and filter glfor the motor. The whole process took forever cause I was doing it all by myself... Finally took a test drive at 11:30 to get some McDonald's for dinner haha My old pos Asian tranny My new and improved Asian tranny now with 5 speeds Finally got my garage set up... But the floor is gravel so I'm bruised to hell even laying on cardboard My tranny died to make this alignment tool but it was worth it. I drove to McDonald's coverd in grime and it was worth it! The tranny was tight at first but after awhile for the fresh oil to do it's thing it was smooth and seemed quicker than before And more progress to come tomorrow! Quote Link to comment

converted_to_datsun
Got some Toyota mr2 seats today. I've seen them in 620's before and they are a good fit. The brackets need modified to bolt on tho. Not sure where to start wit that but I have some ideas Left my Honda si seats currently in the truck, righ my new Toyota mr2 seats that match the black interior Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
I have MR2 seats in my car. I know you have sat in wagon. Quote Link to comment
converted_to_datsun
How did you mount them? Did you modify them or just rig a way to bolt them down? Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
Previous owner mounted them. He just welded the sliders to current sliders. Quote Link to comment
converted_to_datsun
That's kinda what I was thinking of doing. I was gonna take the sliders off a couple bench seats and weld them to the new ones Quote Link to comment
izzo
Man I've had a couple sets of those MR2 seats. I love them... That and the dodge Neon seats. Both very comfortable. Quote Link to comment
converted_to_datsun
I like the look of the mr2 seats, my ideal seats would be perfect condition z seats but these came up for cheap and they are black and comfortable. Kinda fitting too since I ust to be a big Toyota guy Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
I found fitted seat covers for the MR2 seats. Kinda spendy, but a choice of materials. Quote Link to comment
