heretic
so badass, great progress I was really hoping you were going to eliminate the tension rods all together & give me some ideas :) I'm NOWHERE near as low as you & I hit mine on everything. 1 Quote Link to comment
Farmer Joe
thanks man! you know, in the whole scheme of things it never crossed my mind to delete them and triangulate the lower. i might do it later on if these get too trashed. it feels good to be getting closer to a "done" stage.. the brakes are my next big focus.. the most of its already done too with already getting the master mounted. once i get the rest of the mess on the passenger frame rail. that LSV is gonna die! lol well see how it goes. Farmer Joe
more update... picked up the tool for the brake lines.. got the double flare set, tube cutter, and tube bender.. already made the lines to adapt the ford master cylinder to the datsun brake lines... the ford uses the same 3/16 line as the datsun, just uses bubble flares. heres what were have... this is the ford ends that go in the master. see the one is bigger than the other on the threads. and bubble flared... this is the datsun side now.. little steps.. gotta find a place to pick up a handful of m10x1.0 unions. woot! the end of the tunnel for the brakes is in sight! more to come... 2 Quote Link to comment

heretic
thats a trip. I always thought the bubble flare was more a Euro thing. Never would've guessed a ford would have them. this is the ford ends that go in the master. see the one is bigger than the other on the threads. and bubble flared... Quote Link to comment

Farmer Joe
thursday.. time to get to work... gonna get the valance and bumper back on the front.. have to weld the valance tothe fenders. the bolts broke when i tried to take em out. gonna "race prep" the torison bars and get them installed. see if i cant figure out the indexing again... gonna pull the driveline to replace the front half with another that has a good carrier bearing. gonna pull the 3rd member, weld it up and get it back in. maybe even set it back on the ground. and if im lucky, i might set the bad back on it.... ready, break! Farmer Joe
okie dokie! got a few things done today. got the torsion bars in and roughly set. put the other front half of driveline in that has the good carrier bearing. thought about welding the 3rd member, but decided against it since im not going to do the link setup yet. ill weld it after i get the rear suspension firmed up a bit. tossed the bed on it. havnt bolted it down, but its on at least. gonna hook up the fuel lines an electrical here soon. got the bumper and valance back on the front too. last but not least, its back on the ground again!! pics... things ive noticed is ill have to trim the fender to get my turning back... tire is running into the very front of the arch. i have to put the torsions up a bit more.. im thinking they are getting kind lame and dont really hold up the truck very well anymore. more to come... 2 Quote Link to comment
heretic
I won't be unfortunately. you going to canby this year? Quote Link to comment
heretic
I look at this pic & the height of your cross member & front tension rod anchors seem to be where mine sits but your truck looks SO MUCH LOWER than mine. When you have a chance.... what does the center of your headlights measure? 1 Quote Link to comment
Farmer Joe
yeah i can grab that measurement tonight.. its not as low as it used to be, but it looks lower than it was before the suspension swap. Quote Link to comment
heretic
thanks much appreciated.... it LOOKS badass :) Quote Link to comment

When you have a chance.... what does the center of your headlights measure? so i measured the headlight, and i get ~21 1/2in on the driver side, and ~20 1/2in on the pass. side.. its leaning pretty bad now that i put a tape to it.. its off an inch... needs to come up on both sides.. we'll see how this pans out.. Busta Nut
needs moar lowar on both sides.. we'll see how this pans out.. fixed..... :P Quote Link to comment
heretic
Thats nuts... mine is 21" & it looks like I'm a mile high compared to your truck. I forget what tires you're on but I'm on 205/50/15's so i measured the headlight, and i get ~21 1/2in on the driver side, and ~20 1/2in on the pass. side.. It took a bit of f*cking with to finally get mine level. I'd have to adjust it then drive it for a day or two & let it "settle in"... it was a pain but I'm super anal about that & could see it a mile away  its leaning pretty bad now that i put a tape to it.. its off an inch... I'd have to adjust it then drive it for a day or two & let it "settle in"... it was a pain but I'm super anal about that & could see it a mile away  im on 205 55 15s, so its not really that different.. woo! productive day again! went to the jalopy jungle with jayden and found a 3.89 3rd member for his 521. welded up a spot on his exhaust too. after bill took off i got the bed bolted down, hooked up the fuel lines, the sender lines, power for the fuel pump and the taillight wiring. cut the old muffler off and welded the magnaflow on. i still need to make some sort of a turn out for it, but its fine for now. tossed the radiator in, and got the fan wiring hooked back up. and then i went a little crazy on the front arch on the fenders... ill need to take a real hammer and dolly to it, but hey, it didnt come out too bad for just a small sledge and a chunk of wood. i did get alot more turning radius back... i think i have the torsion bars set for now too.. i might crank the drive side up a bit for when im in it.. and the list is pretty much down to just stuff to buy.. and a random of the garage.. lol the wife gets paid today, so tomorrow im gonna go get some brake lines and tierods on thursday to get this thing goin.. more to come... 4 Quote Link to comment
heretic
looking good & so much progress.... I like the front fenders. I pulled mine about that far, maybe a bit more, I still rub with two people in the truck, no worries cuz 95% of the time I'm solo. 1 Quote Link to comment
