Whats up Ratsun, been busy working that's why haven't posted in a weeks.

so now I'm back at the EFI mani build. Unfortunately when I went to a local Fab shop with the dimension to punch my Plenum cover they didn't get the spec's correct.

Lesson Learned. And decided to do it my self.

I took all if my material to my friends shop and not to mention where my wife works

Where they have a full machine shop and that everyone that works their is cool.

I bought my own pip

e to bend the Plenum cover and went to work.

Pictures Don't do this plenum justice,I can see the dream coming true.

I already have the megasquirt system and turbocharger ready to go I just have to order it.

Now I have finally had the money to order fuel injectors and bungs.

IMG_20120413_200043.jpg

And I started working on getting the bungs cut. I got 2 of them done it's just stressfull cutting and getting them all perfect, so far so good on the 2.

I will be working on this more tomorrow and post more pics.

Till then.

Hello dimershow is everyone? I hope all of you are doing well.

Just giving everyone an update on the efi progress which is going a little slower then I wanted, but got to work.

So here is where i'm at.

I got the fuel injector bungs welded on

IMG_20120519_210751.jpg

Then I got started on the fuel rail, With a lot of problems

The short version is using a drill bit not ment to drill bung holes (ha ha that was funny). And I saved the money ($140) for the special drill bit.

IMG_20120519_210733.jpg

IMG_20120519_211457.jpg

So after all the trial and errors I got it right, and even tested it at 40 psi

IMG_20120505_214809.jpg

SO I taped the ends and installed the nt's, and did a little polishingto see how she would look.

IMG_20120614_201918.jpg

I also picked up the megasqiurt ecu complete set up.

And also picked up a T3/T4 turbo charger kit with intercooler.

I will send more oics soon.

Here is a oic of hallie out on Grand in Escondido on Friday night. Me and my good friend Eric go park and show off our cars

which is a lot of fun.

Hello fellow ratsuners how is everyone?

Well I've been working on the EFI plenum and got to a point where I will need some assistance from you?

But for now I'll show you the progress I have completed.

First I took off the dual webers.

IMG_20120615_193138.jpg

IMG_20120702_165708.jpg

Purchased the megasquirt 2 and the turbo charger kit.

IMG_20120615_145445.jpg

I installed the EFI plenum to see how it would.

IMG_20120622_213930.jpg

IMG_20120615_181610.jpg

With the air cleaner.

IMG_20120615_184608.jpg

Then I took the plenum to my friend daves shop to get the rest of the plenum welded like the TPS flange, fuel rail brace that I made from the leftover material and throttle brace.

IMG_20120623_110150.jpg

IMG_20120623_110157.jpg

Then I installed the megasquirt through a new braided harness.

IMG_20120703_001046.jpg

I decided to mount the ECU and relay under the dash to keep it hidden.

IMG_20120703_001100.jpg

IMG_20120703_001037.jpg

IMG_20120710_211314.jpg

So I spent a lot of time running the wires through a small peace of braided tubing to make it look clean and I had to rework the air filter because I

did not like how it fit. I also ran the plenum hose through the fire wall with the fuel injector wires.

So here is the finished........ well almost finished product I still have to polish all that aluminum.

IMG_20120707_231219.jpg

IMG_20120707_231229.jpg

Here is where I decided to put the filter for now.

IMG_20120707_233700.jpg

So here is where I need help I believe I hooked up all the wiring to the MS2, Unfortunately I cant get her running.

First I'm using the 620 distributor that has the little black box on the side, and inn the megasquirt manual says it will work with no problem.

But I'm having a problem.

Second I have no spark at the plugs when grounded to test but I have power to the coil.

Here is how I have it wired, on the megasquirt website their is a 280zx wire up with a similar install as mine.

I also check a few more installs and they are the same.

My dizzy has 4 thooth magnetic pickup with 2 wires coming out a green and red.

I ran the red wire to the + on the coil and ran a separate wire( supplied by MS) from the - on the coil to the MS relay.

Then out from the relay to the green wire on the dizzy that goes to the black box.

So if anyone is familiar with this setup I would really appreciate it, and if anyone needs help let me know?

I will post video when I get her started, and will send oics of turbo install when I get started.

Yes, it will work no problem, as many people have made this Matchbox distributor work. It is totally independent of the Megasquirt.

* Check to make sure it has 12V at the coil *when* cranking

* Check to make sure the distributor Blue wire is connected to Coil-

* Check to make sure the distributor Other wire is connected to Coil+

Wait ... the red & green wiring coming out of the distributor should NOT go to the coil. They should go to the black box (terminals that face inward). The terminals that face up normally have a blue and other color wire. Those go to the coil.

Megasquirt just connects to Coil- terminal as a tach input. Otherwise the "matchbox" ignition has nothing to do with Megasquirt.

The 280ZX info you read might be about 1982-1983 280ZX Turbo, which is totally different from earlier Z-cars. With the 1982-1983 Turbo you can do MegaSquirt spark control. But not with the 280ZX that use the black box (Matchbox) distributor. Or Datsun 620 or other Matchbox distributor -- as far as I know. But my knowledge is a couple of years old on the Megasquirt stuff (MS-II).

If you want I'll look over the info and give you my take on it.

Oh, and ... nice photos. Quality work.

Thank you for the info on distributor, nothing got fried.

I got the car running with pour idle and when I give here gas she dies.

I'm still trying to figure megasquirt out, due to my engine not being stock makes things more difficult to tune.

But im getting there.

Im pretty sure that its a fuel issue, timing is set to 10 degrees and still have to get lc-1 o2 sensor configured. so I'm on the right track.

If anyone has advice and is familiar with MS2 let me know.

thanks,

Mike
