had a ruff couple weeks

Recommended Posts

Saturday after work I offered to help a coworker move his tool box to his new job. Well I ran all over, put a bumper on the Datsun, then across about 40 miles to borrow a trailer, then back to work. On my way back to work, my coworker pointed out an old car sitting on the side of the road. I pulled my eyes off the road just a second and looked back, the van I was following at 55 was at a dead stop 2 car lengths ahead of me. I slamed the brakes knowing how efective the old drums work. I got a couple tires to bark on the road, then went sideways. I managed to get her back and stopped without hitting anything but I had to get creative.

Then that night I was driving the old 63 mercury on a one way street. I got to the top of a hill to headlights in my lane. I had to shift lanes and when I did the other car decided too as well. Another close call.

Last night after work I headed to a friends house to pick up their car to do brakes on it. The brake job went good with no issues. I brought the car back, had a couple beers then headed home. When I got home I noticed someone had went threw some of my stuff. I didn't think much of it until I get a txt from my room mate asking if I had to break nto my house. Then I started to look around a little. My Alienware laptop that costed 5k a few years ago was gone, my new toshiba laptop was gone, and my old black powder 44 revolver was gone. I call the police and they said they were sending someone out but no one came.

So all in all I haven't had a bad week......

The revolver is a muzel loader and don't have to be registered. Well I called the cops again after I got out of work, I guess they sent an officer at 3am and I was passed out... they said they would send another one.

Damn, i can't stand thieves. Im lucky enough to only have had 1 vehicle and a deck stolen.

And hat off to you for having enough driving skill to avoid a wreck. Some people just lock up and eat the steering wheel.

Thanks, I at least tell my self I have the ability to drive better than the average person.

How did you friend know you had a break in? That's shady.

Texas got one thing right; fucker steals $1001 worth of stuff from your house, they just signed up for bullet therapy. Most states have either complete pussy castle laws (I'm looking at you California, bitch) or none at all.

My aunt's place's windows have decorative wrot iron bars. Makes it look more like villa than a prison. The neat thing is, in the case of a fire, you can pull the lock pins from the bars inside wall side of them (the bars pass through the walls for this purpose) and push the bars out. The upstairs bars all have integrated folding ladders as well. It's bad ass and has saved her house from crackheads about a half dozen times. They try to bend the bars now and then. Which also stopped once my uncle wired a cow fence inverter to the bars that switches on when the alarm is armed.

And people wonder where I get my crafty, resourceful nature from. cool.gif

My room mate said that when she wend to unlock the door, it was already unlocked. Also a tshirt of hers was inside the door and now was outside on the deck. The screen was all bent up but never taken completely out of the window.

I don't think she would do that but idk about the people she knows. Lately no one has been there but me and her. I let some of our neighbors in the house before, I don't know them real well and they could have possibly taken my stuff.

Here is an update to the theft situation...

I got a call at about noon yesterday from a detective that is working on my case. He told me that they recovered my pistol. It was pointed at an officer then the suspect threw the gun away and took off running. The police arrested him. He was in prison multiple times with breaking and entering charges. I don't know if my gun was fired or actually shot someone but the police are not going to release it until the case is closed. They are holding the gun for evidence but they said they will give it back to me eventually.

They should have dusted for prints when the person broke in. That way they could have checked that fool that had your gun. At least there is hope of retrieving some of your stuff.. at some point.

The cop that came by tried to dust the window that the theif got in but all he found was a smuge. He didn't put a lot of effort into fingerprinting. He probably could have dusted my bedroom door knob and a few other things but he didn't.

Its not anything the cops really care about it. To get the cops attention, you have to go 3mph over the speed limit or get into an accident.

Quoted for truth!

In a proper world, they would have let you go in and beat the shit out of him until he told you where the rest of your stuff was.

Doorknobs are notoriously a pain in the ass since the oils for various prints have a tendency to smear each other.

You have to love Texas, if they break into your house you can shoot them, if they break into your car you can shoot them, if they threaten you and you are in your car you can shoot them.

We had a very drunk guy trying to get into what he thought was his own house practically ripping the door off the hinges and the home owner shot him and the homeowner faces no charges. Sometimes store owners get robbed and then they shoot the criminal and nothing happens. Out here you can carry a concealed weapon in your vehicle as long as you are not a felon. When I go to the Veterans Administration I am always packing heat for the drive there. I have to go through a real dump of a town.

If you carry the firearm onto VA property, you're technically committing a felony since that is federal property; but so long as you leave it in the car, no one is going to bother you. I dad spooked his new doctor years ago by having his concealed sitting on top of his clothes on the chair after dressing down for a physical. Security came and held onto the firearm until the physical was done, then escorted him back to his motorcycle.

The guard still works there and gives dad a little ribbing about it now and then. "Packin' ice today Mr. Whitson?" "Yes sir! :D" "Carry on. :)"

Nope no leads on the computers. I might just sue the guy who had my gun for the missing property so I can get my laptop replaced. Maybe I can even go farther than that, but its hard to sue someone if they don't have any money.
