VintageRice
So, I really like the bullet style side marker lights 68-69 I believe. I don't really like the rectangle style. The replicas from Indonesia and tiwan are cheap and take forever to get right? And the real deal are WAY to expensive right? So, would it be total sacrilege to use something off another modern car? Say BMW lights? These look like the similar style. I don't know just an idea. I may just shave mine completely, but I like the idea of having side markers for safety reasons. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I'm not a fan of shaving off a safety device either. I positive that it's illegal too. I have no problem with substituting something else, tasteful that is. Quote Link to comment
Jesse C.
Those look pretty nice. Just don't place them where the BMW has them, that would be so early 90's and very Ricer style! Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Plus I don't think those are side markers. They come on when making a turn to warn any car beside you that can't see the rear light flashing. Still a good idea for use on a dime. Quote Link to comment
VintageRice
Don't they operate as running lights(sidemarkers) when the lights are on, and then blink with the blinkers? Newer cars have headlights and tails that wrap around the sides so you can see the car from all angles. I don't like the idea of a car you can only see directly from the front or rear. And that is what you would have with shaved lights on a 510. I'd hate to get t-boned in a datto. :o Quote Link to comment

sssr20det510
I saw some clear bmw ones on a 510 it looked good, they were mounted where th 68 69 ones would go Quote Link to comment

skunk
those look good. i might do something like that too. they would match the BMW projectors and my fenders are shaved, i got them that way. That would make putting them on really easy. Quote Link to comment

Root
Be aware to be legal needs to be side reflector in addition to lighted, amber up front, red rear. With cars this old, people might not notice though. Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
If the BMW is anything like my VW, that is called a repeater light. Only lights up with the turnsignal/hazards. On the VW they actually put a decent amount of light on the ground, which makes me feel safer knowing that people will see me more clearly. I say go for it! (yes I know they will be running lights) Quote Link to comment
SHAMUS'WAGON
I look at other cars side markers all the time. I've seen a lot of them I'd like to try, but I don't have cash to burn on that shite. If I ever happen across a set for a 2000 maxima. I'm gonna try those out on my goon. Quote Link to comment

There are alot of maxima side marker lights on ebay for cheap. Amber, smoke, clear, http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=2000+maxima+side+marker&_sacat=See-All-Categories Doesn't look like the fit would be good though. May not match the body lines. Quote Link to comment
Dime Dave
How about these amber & red ¾” diameter LED side markers with chrome trim? May not fit like a 68 side marker, but they are not very intrusive looking. On eBay for $15.95/pair red – P/N M09300R, Amber – P/N M09300Y eBay Store - The Trailer Shoppe Quote Link to comment
420n620
the 68 dimes didn't have the rear side marker lights, not axactly sure when Datsun put them on, prob the later 69 510 models did. Quote Link to comment
