Tristin
Your rear-end looks amazing (no homo). Nice work Josh... Quote Link to comment
Josh K.
Thanks Tristin. I have a lot of time into all the individual parts. I'm real happy with how it's coming together. I honestly never dreamed of doing all this work when I started. Now it's getting close to being done! Quote Link to comment
DottiBlue
And then you'll tear it all apart again for another idea Quote Link to comment
Josh K.
Oh no doubt about that :w00t: Still gotta route the brake lines........ Quote Link to comment
Josh K.
Started installing the ebrake setup today. Looks like the stock ebrake cable would work with my adapters but I choose to go with the Lokar handle for simplicity. To use the stock ebrake handle/cable you need to move the forward cable mount forward around 4" since the cable is soo long.... Anyways. I couldn't bolt the Lokar handle from under the tranny tunnel like it's designed because it would hit my driveshaft. Instead I had to do a "mid mount". I slotted both the handle holes and the mount holes so I could drop it down. First I roughed a slot: Then slotted the mounts: Mounted the handle: Routed the cable (Passenger is just mocked up right now. Cables will be routed better and secured later): Quote Link to comment
Josh K.
Ordered some ss lines from the Z-Store. Now I can make and route all new hard lines and get the brake system finalized. Then once my Ermish Stage 2 coilovers get here I can finalize the rearend and get back to buttoning up the sheet metal and start putting the car back together for a serious shake down.... 1 Quote Link to comment
Bob3
I love this car! Quote Link to comment
Josh K.
Thanks Bob! I just ordered myself a christmas present.... 3 more Grid Classic's and R1R's :) Now once my coil overs arrive I'll have a complete roller. Then I can set suspension travel/ride height/alignment/wheel spacing/route brake lines/final fitment/attachment of panels. Then start working on all the little details to get her running again for the shakedown!!! Quote Link to comment
Josh K.
Got my ss lines and started routing them. It's my first time making brake lines. It's pretty simple. I scrapped the outboard line mounts I was gonna use to simplify the hard lines... I'm using the stock arm mount on the passenger side but moved the drivers side back so I can keep the ss line tight to the body to avoid the exhaust heat. I'm moving the tee fitting above the diff also. Quote Link to comment
Josh K.
One of the ss lines in the kit is female/female. I didn't want to comprise my routing to use it so I robbed one from the front and will just order another to replace it... Just gotta run the line to the front. Gonna run it underneath and along the tyranny tunnel and not in the car like stock. Quote Link to comment
DottiBlue
Oh the tyranny!! Quote Link to comment

datsuntech
"Just gotta run the line to the front. Gonna run it underneath and along the tyranny tunnel and not in the car like stock." Actually, running it up the trans tunnel is the stock routing. Brock Quote Link to comment
Josh K.
Thanks Brock, that's good to know. Been a while since I had a dime. Seems mine was "special".... So went in to the shop this morning to do a little machining..... Since I'll be making the interface for my set of Ermish Stage 2 coil overs I figured I would remove the old pressed-in strut tube and weld. This way i'll just make a new tube section and butt-weld like the factory did. Quote Link to comment
datsuntech
No problem. I love what you are doing to your car, but it does make me a little jealous of the equipment you have access to. :) Brock Quote Link to comment
