A buddy needs some info. (goon glass)

My buddy Ryan traded an 8ft stick of 2x3x1/4 tubing for a goon sitting out at a farm. Problem is most of the glass is missing. He's a glass guy (glaser) so he can cut his own glass but he needs to know if the glass is flat. As far as i know the rear window is missing as well as the rear side glass on both sides, we're hoping the drivers window is rolled down.

I know my 521 has all flat glass (except the windshield) because on the passenger side window the Nissan logo is backwards.

If anyone can run out to their driveway to check it would be greatly appreciated.

sides are not flat. not sure about rear glass.

You know that side and rear auto glass is tempered and can't be cut and windshield glass is laminated with a plastic layer in the middle right? ... and you'd have to be crazy to replace it with ordinary window glass, in fact it's probably illegal to do this.

you can cut it then get it tempered.

he's a glaser and his father was a union glaser... he knows this. He was going to cut it from laminated glass. :fu:

 

 

But looks like we're going to have to source some goon glass.... going to be impossible in colorado :lol:

The rear glass is not flat either its actuall curved 2 different directions. I know this cause when I had to retint my other goons rear window it did not go well! I had a hell of a time trying to shrink the tint.

Why not go with 3/16 inch plexiglass for the sides & back window ?? That way he can go with any color available :D It can be heated & or persuaded to fit & would look kool ;)

I don't think that it would be that hard to get glass from a wagon that someone is parting, why go through the hassle of making glass??

lexan or how ever you spell that get a noname poly carobonate cut it and stick it in a lot lighter and a lot tougher and easy to cut

i have a dented hatch that would be suitable to attempt to reuse the seal/glass.

 

youll have a harder time locating the hatch glass seal than anything else...
