hessianben
Got trans mount welded by a local hot rod kid- shortened 2" exactly: a little paint to stop it from flash rusting Right on the money! Quote Link to comment
hessianben
Ugly modding of trans tunnel shifter cover required... Fixed! test fit Recaro- not a lot of room! Sticking with bench for now. Switched back to the 521 Alt. which fixed the non-shutting-off issue... internally vs. externally regulated issue I'm guessing... how it sits now: I like seeing that oilpan peekin at me! my girlfriend is covering my wheel with new suede... almost done! fisch
Awesome posseum! The mount looks great! Did you take it out for a spin??? Quote Link to comment
hessianben
Well, I spent today finishing up the truck... switched back to the 521 motor mounts because I'm dumb and 'assumed' that they were the same dimensions as the 620 ones... fits like a glove now. The radiator decided to spring a pinhole leak right by the top inlet... it's just as well because I wanted to switch back to the L16 fixed-fan water pump so I could run the 521 fan shroud again. Simple fix- $25. easy! Back to the L16 fan/pump/pulley with some new paint Quote Link to comment
hessianben
Goodies came today!!!!:fu::fu::fu: Nismo Rays 16's I had a set of these a while back, but sold them (for a tidy when I needed cash. I've been looking for another set ever since. Found a set in AZ for a reasonable price at a dealership. They are discontinued now, but when they were in production, they sold for $400++ a wheel !:eek: Needless to say, I did not pay that much! These are the old set on the frontier... hessianben
I finally got to drive the darn thing today!!! Plugged up some exhaust leaks that the muffler guy showed me after rewelding my collector. (nice and quiet now.... until I step on it!!!) It screams!! big step up in power! the 5 speed feels tight and slotted- gears slide into place with a satisfying click. It wants to step out on me in corners if I'm not careful. It does make a LOT of whitish/grey smoke when I step on it and when I'm downshifting. I've tuned the carb, done a really thorough valve adjustment, and set timing to 12BTDC. Am I running rich...? maybe jetted improperly? plugs are black, but not oily black. anyhoo... it feels like an entirely new truck!:D:D:D and, look what I saw not 100 yards from my driveway! It's another '71... although, rather than getting a 5spd, he pulled gears from an 810!!! same rear housing, just replaced the 3rd member with the taller gears in it! pretty cool! hessianben
What happened to the matchbox? maan, ive got 2 of them, but each of them has a broken vac advance plate inside that's supposed to hold a ball bearing at each end... they're made of plastic and have disintegrated. useless. I need a working one if you know of any. and yes. I'm goin to JCCS !!! I was scared I wouldn't get it done in time. what about you?? Quote Link to comment
motavated
I got two F'n tickets and I was afraid of not going. Guess what? My drive shaft does not need cutting!!!! I just added spacers on the "doughnut" and it fits fine "saved money and time". Today I was installing the intake and exhaust manifold so I can take it to get a new exhaust system and alignment. I will be going!!! I am such a fatass... I went to Carls Jr today and eat in. My table number was 74! I jacked that shit!!!! HE HEHEHEHEHE! Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Am I running rich...? maybe jetted improperly?plugs are black, but not oily black. I would try a smaller jet. It's another '71... although, rather than getting a 5spd, he pulled gears from an 810!!! same rear housing, just replaced the 3rd member with the taller gears in it! pretty cool! So I guess the 810 axle splines are the same as the truck. Quote Link to comment
