INDY510
I plan on building a custom oil pan so I can move the motor forward 2-3 inches, because right now the mounts are 8 inches farther back than stock, and that rusty L16 mount is too close to the steering box: Here is my idea to modify the stock CA16DE intake: Quote Link to comment
Cuts metal like mad
heh... where you gonna put the motor mounts? if you are doing this just to avoid flipping the x-member, bad plan bro, flip it, its easy compared to what you got goin now. Quote Link to comment
Icehouse
It looks like the throttle body is upside down :D Not that it maters or anything. Have you picked up a tranny yet? Quote Link to comment
INDY510
Motor #3: a L18 with dual 44mm mukunis, and a 280zx 5-speed all for $700, it even included a shortened drive shaft What's up with the oil filter? Edited October 25, 2008 by INDY510 Quote Link to comment
slodat
That looks like a good deal for $700, at least in my opinion. You are installing that instead of the CA? Quote Link to comment

INDY510
are you doing the motorcycle engine? or the CA inside the firewall? or the L18? and did you just rattle can over the dirt? The L18 has the best chances of running this year.... But I have a fiberglass 510 with a busa motor on the drawing table.... And no I did not rattle can over dirt:fu: Quote Link to comment
slodat
That L-18 doesn't look too shabby to me. Run it. Driving a dime in progress is a lot more fun that looking at one while you figure out your plans for it :D Quote Link to comment

charlie6178
a couple questions. #1 wheel demesions, size and offset? and are you running spacers? #2 tire size? #3 what approach did you use to get the rear end sooo low? i love the way yours looks, i'm not planning on going quite that low, but i want something to go off of. Duke
You might want to open the cowel drain back up, or you will end up with either a bunch of water pouring into the interior or stuck in the cowel. Quote Link to comment

Panasport 16x8 +12mm offset, 225/40/16 tires, and a 3/8" spacer, and they fit that low with stock 510 struts that are shortened and re-threaded. The coilovers hit the tires if I go any lower, they can go 2" lower. #3 The rear end is stock with really old springs that were cut. I will do something better someday. But for now I have the only 510 with bags in the trunk: You might want to open the cowel drain back up, or you will end up with either a bunch of water pouring into the interior or stuck in the cowel. Yeah,,, I think I have to shave the cowl, even though it will look wierd and the windshield will fog up.......and yes I regret cutting the firewall.... Sorry Duke.....................my car might be lower...
