  1. Where are the holes your needing welded up??
  2. I was going to post this since thread was posted,,,finally went out and took oic I guy gave me this 71 fastback because he needed to get it out of tow yard...His story was he had just got the engine rebuilt and it was running sweet ,,,so he went and got a set of Aluminum wheels and new tires ,,and when he left the tire shop , he thought he would roast-em ,,took off ,,car got away from him,, and he hit the telephone pole right in front of tire store..i can stand in the hole it left.. BAM!! But on the good side i got a 9" 411 trac-loc for free... ;)
  3. First a 1600 roadster now this ,,, you have become weak.

We might not go the freeway..well not a real freeway anyways , and go up through Shitland and Allyn and that bussiness..But not sure brother will want to come all the ways here then go back....He has no cell phone so i have to really coordinate before hand.. I said Gorst but wherever really... Maybe if i can get Capt. Ragequit to roll with us ,, we could meet up on a off ramp in Bremerton ( automall??) Actual customer pictures off YELP ..Fatty Smittys

IN not IS But it would have been funnier if you put..." but that`s not important right now " after it.. :D

Where abouts in Giggity harbor ..We might meet you in der Gorst but my brother would be coming from Auburn ,,,blah blah blah I dont know.. But we are going Datwifee ...Where do you and Brodsterific live now..??
  7. Have you tried switching drums side to side if the problem moves to the other side, maybe it is a manufacturing flaw in the new drum...I usually turn the drum for good measure ..especially if it is new..
  8. Lol Micro...,,Bill Nye the science guuuy Bill , Bill , Bill Yeah Dat510 what he said , i had it tuned by ear forever since i was running points ,,even setting timing didn`t matter cuz it changes constantly ,, albeit very slowly ,, but it still did over time so i ran initial WAY out there,, I thought since i changed over to Electronic i might as well finally take advantage of the benefits of it , one being timing never changes...What your pumping out the exhaust is a good indication of how efficient your engine is working.....or not. .....But not actually knowing what perfect baseline marks are,, kinda throws a monkey wrench in my spokes though....lol. Who you callin a stoich?.... No emissions here for anything even newer cars.
  9. What he said^^^ lol But since you opened it ,,If your thinking Suzuki samurai trans , and better mileage per gallon,,there`s a guy in Oregon that makes an adapter kit to bolt an older VW diesel engine in a samurai ,, and the cost is very reasonable..Can`t remember company name but my friend used one and it included absolutely everything needed, for something like $550. somewhere in there.....You probably be able to drive around the earth twice on a tank of fuel.. :D

My brother, FAT510 and I will go wherever you guys decide ...Long drive,, short drive......drive,drive,drive. B) (edit) If you decide to do the peninsula loop ....we are no way going to wait for qtip to take the twilight vampire tour...I mean it ...we will leave you there..
  11. You could get yer self a older manifold that doesn`t have any of that stuff on it..like these. A bit more work but it does clean things up a bit....I could probably be persuaded to trade one of them for a shifter arm, and a 4speed clutch fork and collar... :)
  12. What i like about this meet thread is there isn`t all those pesky pictures muddling up all the space, like those other meet threads on Ratsun ..and what not
  13. Put car on my old school diagnostic machine,, to check timing , because i had never actually checked it after i installed Pertronix ignitor a few months ago..i backed it off to 10 degrees and hated how it felt at low speeds so i moved it around 13 -14 depending on how accurate my old Sun machine is.. ... I replaced my drilled out jets the carb had ( it was used on my pinto circle track car a hundred years ago,, lol ) , with some from a stock carb i had, to try and lean it out a bit, even though carb i took them from was jetted for a 2300,,,.It does smell a little less smokey .. ...I am not sure what good emission results are, and i search the hell outta Google but can`t seem to find chart . but from what i HAVE found i think the results are within reasonable tolerances CO2---------12.9 13.1 CO------------299 I think im missing a decimal point but i would have had to warm that tester back up to find out... HC-------------139 Car on life support And getting an enema
  14. Meh,, you see on car doing a 4 wheel drive smokey donut around a guy popping a wheelie down the street ,,,you`ve seen-em all :w00t: :w00t: <<<--double holy crap emoticon
  15. Yes alot of people do it that way,, but you have to thread the hole so you can screw pcv valve.
  16. I think guttless is a relative term ,, the 620 pick-up is no rocket in stock configuration..I don`t know about the 620 in perticular, ,,,but the 70 510 my brother drives,, i drove around for about a year and a half before switching it to a 4speed ,,and it did just fine..The 4speed does give a more spirited feel to the driving experience but im not sure it`s all that much " faster" really..
  17. If it`s aluminum and you have access to cutter wheels and a sander.. I cut one down for my sons ,,so to still have pcv valve in stock position,, and after it was cut and sanded down I plugged all but the pcv opening with that epoxy you roll in your fingers..The picture shows metal hex sticking out side but that bump was later cut off and hole plugged.. Can`t show you pictures of it because it`s on my teenagers car ,,,driving around somewhere right now... (edit),,,JB weld would be a good " right now " solution.
  18. Maybe i shouldn`t have touched it ..
  19. Good info ..It is usually the simple things that trip up the new guy .. What seems so mundane to some that have worked on older cars / machinery for awhile ,,can sometimes cause the projects to become abandoned... ...I had always thought that your " blue hands " label was from having Prussian blue all over them. I guess you learn something everyday.. Anyways ...keep up the good work ,,,the internet is made better by it.. :)
  20. Take that to the airport in your carry on, and see what kind of hilarity will ensue.
  21. i have missed two of your meets in a row and i am feeling pretty guilty about it..... :crying: Needed to switch out engine in my brothers 510 today, and there was just no way to get out of it..
  22. It would work just fine ..If the battery died it would be stuck ON it because it couldn`t rotate therefore could not move..Have a jumper wire back up just in case battery dies or fuse blows.... ,,,,,having typed all that, i personally would try to make a " normal " one work ..less chance of it not--not working..
