  1. Protip: JB weld looks better than indy's welds.
  2. Rear ZX struts are too long... If low for rear use KYB AGX for AE86 or similar setup. Sedan might even need longer shock.
  3. Probably... I have coilovers, illumina shocks and 200# springs on my 510 and It needs more stiffer... but the rear is too soft to stiffen up the front. Has flipped and painted leaf, AGX adjustables at highest setting. So yes, bushes and sway bars for now and coilovers for later. :) As always, thanks for the replies.
  4. Before; After: ^that ZX is stock height vs lowered 510, rofl. Finally got a family member to help me clean up the families mess. Also I own a 280zx now. Took like 6 hours, been trying to get someone to help me with it for 6 months. Also, the ZX is longer than my 510. CANDEEHH!H!!
  5. It's going to be about 2" lower than stock, and I'm hoping to rock some 15x9 rota shakotan with stretched 225/60 tires. I want it around the handling level of a honda S2000, not too stiff but not too soft.b For now the sway bars and bushings just arrived, that will at least tighten up everything else and make it safe to drive. I'm just worried that the tokico suspension wont be stiff enough. I am probably just going to wait and put in some coilovers.
  6. Check primary idle jet size. Check Secondary idle jet size. Should be 10 less than primary. Replace with smaller idle jets, should be like 55/45 for l18. Should run fantastic in the high end, crap in the low end if 1 turn out and rich. Might need 140/145 primary jets. See how it runs after fixing the idle circuit. Hainz you would probably feint if I told you the jet setting on my cammed L20b.
  7. stock pump jet is a shit 50 single-sided one, get a new 55 pump jet, or maybe a 50 is better for stock l20b? What are main jet sizes? What are air jet sizes? What are idle jet sizes? How many turns is the idle mixture out? http://www.racetep.com/webjettune.html Stock L20b should be like...140/145 main, 170/160 air, 60/50 idles. (primary/secondary) I've been getting help from a pro tuning my L20b with 32/36 with a 475 lift cam and its nearly dialed in ... I think I may be able to provide some insight. Stock jetting is easy.
  8. Because race car... The car may or may not see some occasional local drift events when I have an LSD. Koni has shocks for 280zx? Adjustables? Thanks for reply.
  9. @skib, almost looks like a corvair? More Euro though... back isnt long enough.
  10. I'm upgrading suspension on my ZX, I have limited budget right now and I just want to get it going nicely. I already ordered some MSA sway bars, and all bushings front/rear that I'm going to be dropping in when they arrive. I just need the shocks/springs. I'm thinking of going with the HPK-255 tokico kit but I've herd on a few forums they are pretty shit.(From PPK, so dunno if thats reliable :fu: ) They are only $370 on amazon which makes me think they are a nice cheap upgrade, but then again I don't want to get something I'll just constantly want to replace in the future. It may end up going in some local drift events in the future. Should I just wait until I can learn to weld and make coilovers? I'm also planning to get T3 tension rods when I can afford them, RCA's, ect. Maybe even T3 weld on coil kit. Any thoughts? Its going to be mostly stock street car, I'm not doing much to it just getting it street-able as a nice spare daily. 4"+ ground clearance for shit roads here. Thanks.
  11. HPK255 spring/shock kit for 280zx listed as Regular Price: $818.3 On Sale For: $638.32, can find it for $370 on amazon. Illumina rears I got for the front of my car are listed for $150 sale price, I got them for $140/each. Still a nice sale, but nothing for my cars.
  12. The point is, the car was made of rust... and you should rebuild it with rust!
  13. Has anyone tried to swap the tailshaft from a C series trans onto the B series late 81-83 close ratio ZX box? That short shifter looks amazing, probably awesome to drive.
  14. I live near you .. I wish I had the knowledge of body work to help you bring it back... I can't even weld, but I want to see the car done! :( Everyone loved it because it had the same spirit as rusty the BMW. It was the car that would never die. Put a drivetrain in it and rock it as a doorless zombie, as long as it rolls...
  15. Starlet hatch conversion. @INDY, its already the LOWEST 510 ever, why would you cut the rocker panels?
  16. At this point, convert it into a starlet-style hatchback and put an engine in the rear. (honda FWD are cheap rear-engine swap option) WTF?
  17. Those look like... the rims my goon's previous owner had on his white 2dr. Just as filthy! Looks good. Now clean them up!
  18. The pics on your setup where fine, its just I do not have welding capabilities and wondering how the addco part bolts on. I would like an effective rear bar to eliminate rear body roll, until I can swap in a 4-link type setup.
  19. @Son_of_a_Datsun_Guy, I am also a big fan of your goon!! I wish mine was as clean as yours! The Konigs are 15x7 0 offset, rear fitment is fine with rolled fenders, front rolled fenders shortened 510 struts MR-2 insurts and camber plates with aggressive camber get them to fit. I still need to swap my ZX struts which would pull the front +15 to fix the camber. Tyre size is 195-55-15. Front fitment with rolled fender and max negative camber w/ T3 plates. I'm currently at a bit less negative, as little as I can run without excessive scraping.
  20. I'm curious how the rear wagon bar fits on. I've never seen a proper picture of one mounted on a goon ! What kind of modification is required to bolt it to the frame rail ?
  21. This looks awesome... I may have to make it.
  22. Cool, I work a few blocks from there. Also ,this is how I commute to work.
  23. 15x7 +0 on a wagon, 0 camber 195-55-15 rolled fender... tucks, does not scrape, about 1" wheel gap but pretty sure I could go lower without scraping. Need flares for bigger tires, or + offset.
  24. Cool, I have messed with quite a few laptops over the past few years... I always love working with the hardware. I had a M5500 that I tried to mod to get working well, but ended up paying more money in parts than just buying a newer laptop. Also it ended up killing 3 video cards... I have not heard of any newer laptop overheating, it seems most manufacturers have fixed the cooling solutions in their laptops. The worst cooling system I've ran into is in my Dell XPS 15z, which reaches nearly 90c gaming but has never hit the thermal limit. Also "outperforms my friends new gaming laptop", it must not be a new laptop. Even low end laptops with integrated intel HD4000 can keep up and outperform a 7800GT now. I'd love to see those benchmarks. And sure, CS1.6 isnt going to run much better on a new machine. Maybe I'm just use to working on the latest tech hardware .. Currently at my company we are using Lenovo laptops, they have wonderful cooling solutions and they all seem to be really solid machines, even the lower end thinkpad edge. If you are looking for a new computer, check out originPC. They seem to have a really nice lineup of gaming machines, especially with intel's new Ivy bridge chips.
