  1. pick n pull says theres an 83 200sx in windsor, CA.... Anyone can confirm the motor is still there? I want the Z22 shortblock.
  2. Lokar cables are cut-to-fit custom application. Of course its too long !!! On my DGV after cutting to fit... Make sure to solder the end of the inner cable to prevent it from coming apart!
  3. Spotted a grey 510 on the bay bridge this morning ... sounded nice launching from the metering lights.
  4. Stock jetting for DCOE is a sticky here ! Just get it to whatever is baseline spec for your motor. http://community.ratsun.net/topic/27094-weber-dcoe-stock-jetting-information/ tip; There is a shop in hayward called the buggy house, they carry weber jets if you need em locally. Lots of VW shops should carry em if you don't want to order online. What head are you running? Does it have water ports for the manifold? You may need to block these off/ freeze plug them to run the side draft mani. I have that line plugged on the water inlet on my motor and have no issues. Slight port deviation should not be a big problem, it won't be ideal but it should run fine. Somone correct me if I'm wrong...
  5. Saxaphone house ? I've never seen it personally. I have not really gone exploring in those roads, I usually stick to the more secluded back roads. Aye, the bike carbs seem to be the most smooth street carb option. I'm really liking them. Rattles? yeah... 200lb front springs stiff shocks, stiff modded leafs, stiff rear shocks, some solid TC rods, ect .. makes it rattle ! My window weather stripping needs work, and a lot of other things. I just been working on getting the motor and suspension sorted(safe and drivable) before worrying about any of that. Its actually not horribly scary to drive anymore ! It does not wander all over the road, ect. Also those roads are pretty bumpy ... on a smooth road its not nearly as bad. And there is a zipper on the seat where the phone is mounted. Yes, I recorded that with my cell phone with a fish-eye lens. Aye, its quite quick ! I am going to put a 4.375 diff in it soon as well, should be even faster. Its great putting it in 3rd and 4th and still pulling strong ! A lot more punch than the DGV. I never went over 5900rpm in that video ! Most of it was pulling out of corners around 3000rpm. I adjusted the wipers like that to get the maximum amount of travel across the window ... Its practical. :P
  6. I love this carb setup so far. Even not perfectly dialed in its very smooth below 2000rpm drive able around town, throttle response and power at the top are great too. Had my datsun mechanic friend ride in it, it is not pinging. He said to pull it up to 7k, It pulls all the way to 7100 ... power drops off about 6800rpm with this cam. I do have to get the low end perfect with the wideband, but so far its running great. 180 main jets, 17.5 pilots, needles set half way. Friend set up the idle mix I still gotta count the turns and figure out where he set it. It still pops on decel around 3000rpm, but its a lot less than when I first got it going. Here's what it sounds like on a cammed L20b. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrMIsK7S9EE&feature=youtu.be This road is completely uphill ... just sayin.
  7. I bet they're machined pistons... Are they dished? Cant tell from the pic. @Ranman, KA24e and KA24DE are the same piston, Z24 are 89mm too. 89mm on L20b ?? Can you check the rods? What crank/stroke?
  8. Well I feel silly. My mechanic friend(he has about 4 datsuns and has built motors for many years) just rode in the car and said its a normal carburetor noise. I pulled it to 7100rpm. /thread
  9. My car is registered .. I will be there.
  10. That feeling when you have way more power than you expected when you hit the accelerator.

    1. PrimeLuxeZ

      PrimeLuxeZ

Thats always good, then you are like what, let me try that once more.

  11. The plate on the door frame on my ZX says its 3405lb ... is this correct ?!

    1. datsunaholic

      datsunaholic

Gross Weight, right? That means with both seats and the "cargo area" full.

      Stupid_fast

      Oh okay.

I was confused for a minute there.

I think the ZX weighs about 2800-2900 depending on equiptment?

    3. 72240z

      72240z

ya in that range depending. Assuming you mean 280zx, there are a bunch of zx's and they only get heavier lol

  12. Low comp turbo motor... Turning the crank pulley by hand.

  13. There are no public dirt road where I live... It must be loads of fun sliding around on gravel.
  14. Put it at 12deg, no change. I'm running 91, never ran anything lower. Maybe its un burned gas under load in the low end ? I know its strange, but when I increased the jets with my old carb it made the noise slightly worse. With this carb, when I put rich jets in it just ran bad, no change in noise. It only happens in torque, under load. its a consistent noise. I really just don't know what to try next. Probably going to end up taking it to a shop
  15. @RednGold, I came to this thread because I just saw that ad. N E ON WANT A 510 GOON 2 LITRE JDM TAILS $12000.
  16. I want to weld my diff.
  17. Well, while I was driving home yesterday and I managed to severely overheat the brakes on my 1992 cressida... ^Notice the smoke. The picture didn't capture it all. It was smoking for some time... I drove it without using the brakes for a while to try to cool them. I did notice them start to fade while driving, but I thought nothing of it because they are all wheel vented disc brakes ... I guess its not enough for the 3500lb chassis. Now they don't work so well. Spoogy pedal, ABS kicking in sooner, ect. I've gathered a list of things I know I should change, does anyone else have any information on what else I should inspect or parts that could have been damaged? *fluid will need to be flushed with new DOT3/4 ( maybe a higher grade 4...) *Brake pads may be toasted(literally), replace with higher grade carbon/metalic/ceramic? *Possibly melted wheel bearing seals ? inspect caliper seals? The rears had a bit of smoke coming from them, but not nearly as much as the fronts. Is it very bad, or maybe the smoke was because of organic/eco pads ? I'm not sure what the shop installed last. This is a daily, I usually do not drive it this hard but I was coming back from an area that has a back road straight to my house ... And I have not really messed around on these tires since I got them. Edit, for the record... I replaced the front calipers and bled all the lines(32oz bottle of fluid) and the brakes work fine now. The fluid was dark before I flushed it out... And parts of the pads are christalised/burned... lul I found the rev limiter... BWABABABABABA 6500rpm ... mad skiids.
  18. Smoke. Loads of smoke coming from my brakes.

      Stupid_fast

Nahp. It was on the downhill run.

Damn cressida has nice stock vented disks on all four, but 3500lb to stop ahahaha.

  19. Alright ... If it were in fact pinging, advancing the timing would make it much louder, correct? I may try to adv the timing to like 15 or 18 deg and see what it sounds like. My mechanic friend maybe be able to take a ride in it sometime this week ... thanks for the info everyone.
  20. @slingshot, thanks .. The carbs actually run great my issues seem to be unrelated to air/fuel tuning ... @Zendar, This setup is from Bogg Bros UK ... they sell the filter already modified. Stock R1 airbox rubbers I think.
  21. Gap set at 0.035 Phone is mounted in the seat head rest, so there is no rattle there. ame noise ? Yeah I got the driving gloves for christmas ... feels great with the leather wheel. Cam @ no3 hole ? I think so. Its just a tad advanced. last set to 0.08 and 0.010 hot. Not sure honestly... ~160psi cranking comp Meh cali fuel works.... Then what is it? I'm not sure how to describe it. It sounds like a rattle or something but it comes from the engine/ engine bay.. I just went to a meet and had iforgethisscreenname CA18 turbo guy ride in, he said it didnt sound like pinging ... at idle? no. I will get a stethoscope. Its an elec fuel pump now with the r1 setup. I realise doing this on a bridge with speed strips was probably a bad idea now that I think back... lol But you can hear it better in this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0M8mdAA65FA&feature=youtu.be Dad rode in it... He says it does not sound like pinging ...
  22. I have an air filter. Its not tappet noise. I can hear it in the vid... Maybe I just have a good headset. Fine, I'll put a camera in the engine bay >: (
