  1. I love the bobbers... I just recently got into them actually. They've got a bobber style bike in GTA IV, and I saw one driving down the street one day a couple months ago. Since then I've been hooked. I'd prefer to build my own though... maybe get a frame and front end from a company to avoid any inspection hassles, then build the engine and everything else myself. I like the last one with the colour scheme of the first one, save for the seat. Nice bikes. Edit: Wow... I just took a look at the site... I didn't realize they were that cheap and the engines were so small. I'll have to consider it, although they only ship to the US. I wonder what the quality is like.
  2. Wow... Fisch, that's awesome. I think your pictures are starting to make me jealous... The steering would definately have to be modified, but it might work with just extending the tube and modifying some mounting brackets. And, as far as slamming it goes, an airbag setup like hacked (I think...) has would be perfect... The modified stock grille and dual headlight setup sounds good too... all you'd need is a custom-made case for the headlight buckets. Looks like a great idea. If I wasn't in the middle of my project I'd use my parts truck for that...
  3. Very nice... I like it with the Titans, it really suits it. What're your plans for it? Resto?
  4. Hey, nice to have another person join up. As far as fender flares go, no idea. And what do you mean by "fish carb"? Now time to see some more pics...
  5. Pac: Do the highbeams flash in time with the turn indicators, or are they just constantly on while the turn signals are on? Only when you use either the left or right indicators, or both? Do the hazard lamps make a difference? I couldn't really tell you what's happening, but I'll assume it's a short somewhere on the switch... if they're on constantly, then maybe you're grounding out the highbeam switch together with the turn signals. IIRC, the headlights are switched on the ground side... Is the switch new, and did you check all the connections after installing it?
  6. Cool, I've never seen the panel vans before... they look pretty neat. The daily looks super clean too. Any pics of the interiors on both? Welcome to the forum.
  7. Looks good, I think I might pick up a blue one with a large logo on the back when I get back home in a couple weeks. I know it's a hassle getting all these designed and whatnot, but would there be any interest in getting a lighter, zippered version of the sweatshirts made? Or a long-sleeved version of the T-Shirts? I'm debating whether or not to get a hoodie as well, so I thought I'd throw those ideas out there... BTW, I think the shirts look great... The Ratsun logo sans background looks a lot better than the standard one IMO.
  8. Bryan, where did you get your kit from? Online, in a shop, someone you know? I'd like to get one myself but when I ask at a shop they just look at me like I'm an idiot...
  9. I'm redoing the headlights on my car, so I bought a pair of Eurolite H4 conversion housings to fit in the stock buckets. They fit alright in the stock locations (a little small, but that can be remedied with electrical tape), but I noticed that the stock low-beam connector resembled an H4/9003 (same bulb) plug... I haven't tested it yet, but I think you may be able to simply reuse the stock plug for your H4's by swapping the high-beam wire into the low-beam connector. Note, this is only what I saw on the 521... not sure if the 620's are the same, and I'm not sure if it'll even fit. Also (and this is mostly personal opinion bolstered by some research) I'd go with 9003 bulbs rather than H4's... it seems most of the H4 bulbs are manufactured by Eurolite or Japanese companies and have a blue coating on the outside on the bulb. I think they're generally for appearances, and most seem to run from $30 to over $100 per pair. I use 9003 Sylvania Xtravisions myself... not sure if there's a lot of difference over most stock bulbs, but I like em... usually about $15 each. Sorry for the long off-topic post... =P DatsuNoob: I love the way the front of your truck looks in your Avatar... I know we've got different models, but I hope mine looks that slick when it's done...
  10. The seats are outrageous... I love it. Looks great. I'm not much for chop-tops myself, but it looks good.
  11. I think there's a few people that've done that swap on dailys... my bigger concern would be what the engine is set up to do... you said it was a race engine... this could mean that it was designed to be high-revving, high-compression, with a disregard for fuel milage. You'd have to look at the actual engine itself and find out what it's designed to do before you put it in your truck. You probably won't spend much time near the redline on a daily, so a high powerband wouldn't be of much use. If the compression is very high you'l have to run higher octane, and with the price of gas nowadays 15 mpg may not be the kind of milage you're looking for with a daily. Depending on its setup and what you want out of it, you can look at it one of two ways: as a solid engine for a daily, or as a performance engine for a toy. And remember that you can always up- or down-grade the modifications. Using a block that hasn't been bored out, changing carb jets, decreasing compression, etc, are all ways you could easily tone down a race engine. You're only limited by your desire, willingness, and finances in doing what you want with that engine.
  12. Unimogs, or the Bombardier Iltis/VW Type 183: Here. I was aiming to get one last year, but it didn't work out. Little 1500 cc gasoline engine, 4 speed manual with a super low 7.xx:1 cross-country gear, water resistant engine and drivetrain will go through about two feet of water without preparation, and I think it can be pretty much submerged by taking a few minutes to add a snorkle and completely waterproofing the engine. Hard and soft doors and tops, fold-down windscreen, four-seater, etc... I think it's gotta be one of the neatest little trucks I've ever seen (apart from the Datsuns, of course).
  13. I have no idea, to tell the truth, but it seems to me like the roadsters were all low-backs... Or, at least from what I've been able to tell off pictures. I've got a pair of '69 510 seats for my truck, and as far as I'm concerned they're lowbacks, so it makes sense to me that the other late sixties models should be the same. I just had to remove the headrest (two posts that slide into the back of the seat). Maybe try calling the guy and asking him if the headrest comes off, and if he could measure the total height from the base of the seat to the top of the backrest. HTH.
  14. It would be nice to have a smoothed tailgate... I think I've got a couple spares, so maybe I'll hack into one. I was considering a stepside as well... Actually, I wonder what a half-stepside would look like... leave the front half of the bed the way it is stock, but maybe do a built-in tool kit or extra gas tank in front of the wheel tubs, then just narrow the rear section and tailgate... maybe with some flares, wide rear wheels, and a wider stance it might look pretty cool. Sorry for the hijack... :P
  15. Nice, well that's good to hear. I was worried you meant it'd been bored out and worn down. Will you be able to mount a transfer case to the 5-speed if you put it in the 4x4?
  16. Nice little truck... I always see old-style Mazdas and 'Yotas here and get excited 'cause I think they're Dattos... then I realize they're not. Actually... I saw a 620 a couple weeks ago... but that's another story. Sweet find, the paint looks great. Where's the rest of the pics? :D
  17. Nice... I suppose at the very least you could cannibalize it for parts and find yourself a good Z22 block/pistons to use as a core, than use the other good parts from the block you bought. You might be able to find a decent core at a dismantlers, or someone here might have one.
  18. Pac: Nice work on the tailgate cutout... looks great. Plus, it's a beat panel, so no concerns on hacking up good parts.
  19. Most likely culprit: Bad connections. I think I remember hearing something about dash lighting being dim regardless what you do, but checking connections might help. Best place to start is probably at the light switch.
  20. I like it... not much for the overall look of it, but the cloth/rubber concept is great. The taillights are nothing new though, and the "hood" looks awkward, but other than that it's neat. On a semi-related topic... has anyone noticed that the tail-lamps on the new BMW's look like rising suns?
  21. By the license plate of the neighbour's car, I'd say Washington... Looks good, shame you're selling. Might be a nice project or even parts truck for someone.
  22. Thanks... I'm pretty excited about it, should be fun on the mountain roads... Would the 2.3 even fit in a 210? Sounds like it'd be tight...
  23. I was thinking about the same thing for my 521... it came with a pair of seats from a Ford Explorer, which sucked. Way too big and not bucket-y enough. Next I tried a pair from an early VW Rabbit GTI... those were fantastic seats. Firm and super supportive... but, they didn't fit and sat too close to the steering wheel. Finally, I picked up a used set from a '69 510 (I think the 4-door, as they don't recline). It took a little modification, but they fit fantastically now... all I have to do now is make them a bit more supportive and mount them.
  24. Alright, it's been a while since I've posted, but I'm back. I've finally gotten around to cleaning out my garage and doing a bit of work to the Datsun. As some of you may remember, for the past eleven months I've been debating between engine and transmission choices... but, I finally found and paid for an engine on the first. So, as soon as I track down a transmission to go with it, and install everything, I shall be the proud owner of... A Wankle rotary 521. 12A engine, four-speed automatic, and likely 4.88:1 final drive. :D It probably won't be much of a hauler, but I think it'll be a bit faster than the stock J13 powering it right now. I just wanted to share. :D
  25. I agree with Bleach... prices are going up, but so are wages. People think that more money for everyone will solve all the problems, but it really doesn't... But, shame to hear that the cruise is cancelled. I was about to ask if I could come in something other than my Datsun, but I guess not. I wouldn't mind a meet and greet one of these days though...
