  1. All USA spec LHD 68-73 2dr 4dr & Wagon use the same under dash e/brake handle assembly. The Wagon will have different hardware & cables at the rear diff. I would venture a GUESS that the handle assembly is RHD vs LHD cuz other side of the car!
  2. The 510 valve has been gone for years. I used to buy the 620 valve, swap NEW guts into 510 valve, but the 620 valve now gone. Only valve I know of still available thru Nissan is the 240Z, which I know that I can swap the NEW guts out of. I do NOT know if the 720 has the same "guts", but I would GUESS yes. If it does, that might be your best bet.......buy NEW, swap guts! The valve bodies themselves generally don't go bad, it's the plastic pieces & rubber seals INSIDE that do! Can you get your hands on a old crusty 510 620 or 240Z valve so you can see if the "guts" are the same, before you go buy a NEW 240Z valve?? TJ
  3. Thank you Dguy210!! I barely have time to wipe my own nose, let alone scan & post 18++ years of newsletters! Whew!! TJ
  4. I tell everybody that finds them to GRAB THEM, cuz they are a great resource! I have a complete set of the four incarnations of the club from something like 19982-1999. I sit & re-read mine a couple times a year! I bought a 510 Wagon parts car back in 2010, the seller mentioned trying to sell it thru the club newsletter back in 1996.............I found the original classified listing! ? TJ
  5. This is a GREAT part to offer up.............I sell 510 harnesses often! My suggestion is come up with a flat rate shipping cost on anything you sell......not worth the time & hassle to get shipping quotes, unless it is a special part! I use USPS flat rate boxes for MOST stuff I sell, cuz it is easy! Do I lose a sale every once in a while cuz they think my shipping is too high? Maybe, but flat rate shipping makes my "process" so much easier for me!! Good luck with the sale! TJ

    280z suspension

All 79-83 280ZX front struts are the same, if you find a parts car. You do NOT want the coil springs or upper "hats, as they do not fit the 510. The ZX brakes will be better than the stock 510 brakes. I often have ZX struts for sale $350 + shipping with hubs rotors & calipers. Shipping can be $60++ cuz big bulky & HEAVY with the stock ZX brakes. If you are gonna go with a big brake upgrade, I can sell only the struts a l'il cheaper & saves weight so shipping cheaper. TJ

    R200 diff

Somebody must have replaced one side 240Z stub axle with a 720 4WD axle that has a "captive" ujoint yoke! Run that "captive" bolt that holds the yoke in place out of the diff & toss it! Pretty confident they would NOT have modified anything else, that the 720 4WD axle is a bolt in, but not really what you want to use! Now you just need another 240Z stub axle to match the other side? PM me if needed! TJ
  8. The factory B210 adapter plate necessary to bolt up to a 510 has never been available WITH the rebuilt boosters from any rebuilder ie AutoZone or OReilly's, so it's always great to hear somebody like Don at DP Racing will still make them! TJ

    280z suspension

The 79-83 280ZX (not the earlier 280Z!!) front struts will bolt up with coilovers to your 79 510 & the 68-73 510 upper camber plates will also fit (bolt in or weld in). I do not know if the 68-73 510 lower control arms will work, but if not, modifying your stock LCA's as adjustable should be pretty straight forward using heim joints etc! Had a local guy with a 79 510 stop by with his stock front struts, we compared to the stock 68-73 510 & to the 79-83 280ZX, and decided the ZX would work just fine! Hope that helps! TJ Denver CO

Is your oil pump/dizzy dog drive shaft movement side to side OR up & down? There is a thrust surface boss inside the timing cover, where the drive shaft passes thru as you stick it back up inside (after removing the oil pump)..........I think you can shine a light up inside the oil pump cavity hole to see it. It will be about quarter size in diameter with the hole thru it for the shaft, up to the dizzy. That surface facing you (down) should NOT be visually worn or scored. If it is, that might explain up & down movement of the shaft when installed. I don't think I've ever seen the drive shaft hole worn out, which I suppose could cause side to side movement, but you might look to make sure! As Mike says, if the dizzy shaft is at 11:35 at TDC, you should be able to rotate the dizzy to make up for that, within reason. If you don't like that idea, and want it exactly as it should be, THEN pull the oil pump, check for wear, pull the shaft, set TDC, re-install the shaft!
  11. John, you buy the NEW repop dash from Hung Vu at vintagedashes.com (I think that's the web page?), I'll buy your old one with a crack! TJ Denver

    R200 diff

R160 is good for just about any L-series 4cyl, even a mod'd L20B. Of course, the more burnouts, hole shots & abuse, you can destroy anything! We run a CA18DET, chewed up TWO R160's, installed an open R180, no issues. I'm GLAD we didn't install a Subbie R160 LSD that we have, cuz it would have chewed that up too (saving that for an L-series build). The R180 factory LSD's are hard to find. The later Subbie LSD's are great, but you must buy the custom inner stub axles. Other than that, the R180's are a bolt in. If you want to buy an aftermarket R180 LSD, you MUST identify the diff first...........I think 110mm vs 115mm. Some companies offer an LSD for both, some for only one of them. They are NOT interchangeable! Yes, Troy Ermish can help you AND sell you one of his LSD units. R200 is overkill unless you are running a big horsepower turbo or V8 etc. Installation requires some fabrication.
  13. FYI the W58 is an L20B head, but it will bolt up to an L16. W58 is big port, big valve, but has the later emission steel pre-heat tubes in the exhaust ports. On a street engine, it is just fine!
  14. 5 speed! Good luck with the project!
  15. The second car in SF CA with the roll cage.........you MIGHT be able to chop up a stock dash assembly to install AROUND the roll bar tubing, but that could be a tricky project! The current aftermarket gauge layout looks cool, but I'm a classic style guy, love the stock dash of the 70-73 510's! Bigger question is would the stock heater box still fit under that horizontal roll bar tube.....?? Where are you located? Reason.......if seasonal, you WILL want a heater, let alone a fan for air flow! Is this the same car that is currently on eBay claiming it is POWDERCOATED black? Either way, it looks like a decent build........... TJ Denver CO

    Our new dime

Welcome! Do you have any history on the SCCA driver and/or events it raced in? An old race car will often have Nissan Competition parts with it...........do you know what you are getting yet? Some of those parts aren't necessarily good for street use, AND some can be quite valuable! If you are not sure about something, post pics & ask questions! I have LOTS of parts, so let me know if I can help with anything! I MIGHT be making a road trip to KC early in 2019, so if you need anything big bulky heavy, might be able to work a deal to deliver! TJ Denver CO
  17. There was one "bendable" tab on one of the steering box bolts that held the speedo cable in place as it went down past the exhaust.........do you have that tab? Also as Mike says, there should also be a tab down low on the firewall on the drivers side, as a second locating tab. Big question is if it is the original 4speed with speedo pinion on drivers side OR 5speed upgrade with pinion on the passenger side? TJ
  18. Ugh! We see the 720 4WD's in our local yards, but none right now.......will keep in mind! TJ Denver CO
  19. All I saw were dual sidedraft manifolds! Will look again! ?
  20. I don't see a Canon downdraft intake manifold on eBay! Links are a pain to post here............what does the eBay listing title say? I'm curious! I think you will do just great with a stock W58 intake & a new 32/36! TJ
  21. Have you tried Nissan? Riley at Lynchburg Nissan will all at least look it up & order if still available! Rock Auto also lists some under "parking brake cable". Is it just not available any more? TJ
  22. W58 cyl head casting is a BIG PORT, so you really do NOT want the earlier Offy for the L16 small port "210" casting. I just had an old school 510 guy here today that used to modify back in the 80's & early 90's. He said they dyno'd an L20B with different downdraft intake manifolds using a 32/36 Weber. He said that the casting #W58 INTAKE manifold (cast on the top of the rear runner) flowed the best! I sell every W58 L20B intake that I list! You likely have a W58 INTAKE manifold on you 620. I also have a BIG port Edelbrock manifold, but kinda want to hang on to it for an L20B 510 build........ So every time I pick up my L16 SMALL port Offy intake, I chuckle, cuz the "split" dual plane ports are TINY............really only suited for the small port L16 "210" cyl head!!
  23. Depends on what cylinder head port size you have AND what port size the Offy or Edelbrock intake manifold is! The late W58 L20B cylinder head is the BIG PORT, so you really want the correct matching big port intake. I was just sitting down to ask these questions, cuz I have two dual plane Offy intakes, but so far one is for the L16 small port head, the other is still bolted on an engine in a car! Let us know what intake port size you have OR what cyl head CASTING # you have! TJ Denver CO
  24. What Mike said! The higher the compression using a peanut/closed chamber head, the higher possibility of pinging, but all of the above should be checked first! TJ
