mike i am running isky 490 lift with stock springs, i asked isky about this and they said the only mod i needed was the thicker lash pads to correct for the new geometry, i have had zero problems yet and my engine rarely sees aything less than 3-4k rpms. maybe anything above 500 lift? i know the next cam isky lists for the l20b you do have to have different springs, mine is the stage 3, and the next 3 are flat out racing cams.

dude, you have a walker carb kit and whoever rebuilt your carb didnt use the new needle ansd seat, didnt use the new accelerator pump and possibly didnt replace a gasket or two!!!! wtf???? they also didnt use the anjo bolt lock ring!!!!! you have some work to do man!!!! dont worry take your time keep parts labeled and take pictures for reference, also the little measuring tool in the kit is for adjusting your float properly which probably wasnt done judging by how clean it looks!

throw away the plug your holding, rebuilding a cabr is easy and is a good task for you to do and learn, once your done with it you will have a newfound sense of automotive knowledge, you need to find a non heat riser manifold set!

that u20 is a stock l20b camshaft, i think it came out in the u60 l20b's in the early 610's? someone correct me if im wrong, i have a brand new one out in the garage if you need me to take any measurments.

get a matchbox, replace your rotor and cap, set the timing. ka bam!!! 100% perfect ignition system, if problem still persists consult your carbs!

check your points for pitting or misadjustment, also could be fuel dekivery problem, clogged secondariy jets maybe? any other symptoms, just at 30 mph? or also under hard acceleration? best bet is to check points first, i drove my truck around for a long time and didnt even realize how crappy it ran untill i adjusted my points gap

the mag pul mags feed well, im not sure about the other mags out there but i like the magpul because they wont scratch your shit up, i got 5 for free plus one when i bought my smith a few months ago, the smith and wesson moe is a good deal, i just wish it was .308 though, something baout shotting a .22 just gets wussy after awhile.

i know this thread is older but how may i ask do you get the valve springs back on while the head is on the engine, i had a hell of a time using every kind of valve spring compressor you could think of while the head was off!

wow!!! thats right on top of the list of parts or things not to sandblast!!!! dude i would honestly take every single peice of that thing apart and clean it!!! i would be scared to run any of the bearings anymore, yeah sand blasting is easy but dang dude 3 hours with a toothbrush or 5 minutes of sand and 10 hours of rebuild?

your not gonna like the 11 lb flywheel, ha ha i cant wait to see the look on your face!, also install the flkywheel while the engine is out of the car, its not to easy to toque those bolts down while your laying on your head getting shit in your eyes! any engine hoist will work as these engines are light!!!!!!! if you have a good sturdy overhead beam you can use a chain hoist, when i put mine in i robbed a swingset frame from my in laws house and put it in my garage! he he it worked great! chain hoists are cheaper than engine hoists and have more uses anyways. make sure you have help so you dont dent your engine bay up. have fun be safe and post lots of pictures!!!!
