  1. I thought I wanted 3" blocks but I kinda hate mine now. I highly suggest getting the 720 4x4 springs and 1-2" blocks over using 3" ones. Something about the ride quality just doesn't feel right. I chose the 3" blocks cause they were cheap, but I wouldn't do it again. The 4x4 leaf springs will give you almost 2"s of drop, but they are softer than the stock springs so the ride quality is different. IMO if you really want the best quality, you can get either datsun 720 leaf springs from belltech and retro fit them with a 1" block, or measure your current spring pack and give northcountyspring.com a call. They can give you the drop you want and a stiffer spring for the best ride quality, but it's not cheap. Lastly there is the most expensive option of getting composite leaf springs, but honestly my stock steel ones have lasted 40 years and composites are only warrantied for 3-5 years, so I'd save those for a race project (they drop about 50lbs off the vehicle). The truck is looking good as ever willz. I saw your write up on the fuel cell and now we are looking at fitting one in my 620. I'm just a little worried because I believe my truck sites slightly lower, so I'm gonna look at going with a full aluminum cell that will fit between the cross bars where you made your mounts. Hopefully this will give me 1-2" moire ground clearance, but I'll end up losing a portion of my bed for the filler neck. The tings we do because we need moar lowar :crying:
  2. So what do you think it will take to get you there? The fronts look great there but I agree with Tim when it comes to stretching as far as those rears. I've been researching available 14s and found out that there aren't any decent choices for crappy 14x6s except for getting the 165/55 Federal FD1s from Ebay. With your 14x7s could you do 185/60s and get that look? There seem to be tons of those and 175/65s. Hell Discount Tire even carries those :P
  3. Looking good. I would remove the bump gaurds/ plastic strips on the sides. Once we start on the B210 those will be removed. These cars look so much better without them and most of the time the plastic is cracked our broken so they are even more of an eye sore on a clean vehicle.
  4. Wow, that looks like a real sleeper. Welcome to the forum. We are picture crazed around here so any pics of the build would be great

Ouch man, that sucks. I probably missed/forgot it cause I just caught up on the last 3 pages of your thread, but do you mind sharing the specs on your wheels and tire size? MM47 was running a very similar setup but his tires may have been a bit wider. Love the look :) No joke. My 620 is as low as it will go without removing the bump stops. However, the real solution is to grade the driveway, and lower the truck moar!
  6. Yea, just a painful decision cause I actually like the dyna lites and have 5 total. For now I'm just going to pick up some 165/55s or 165/60s and run them until I find a decent deal on 15s that I actually like. If these were 7-8" wide wheels I'd run the 185/60s and be perfectly happy, but to widen these would be around $1200
  7. 40 and you're MrBig
  8. All that material! HRH, many grats on being debt free. I'm working on that myself. Once the Datsuns are both on the road I can knock $7k off the top, but still looking at $14k in student loans. After that it'll be time for a house, but luckily the new promotion is making a large dent in it each month. Should be free and clear in 18 months if I can get the B210 going soon and get rid of that POS gas guzzling cougar DD...
  9. After months of saving for a vacation, you drive your datsun for 30 minutes and blow it all on parts to "finish" your project...
  10. So interestingly enough I decided to throw a tape measure on the wheels and figured out the sale ads were wrong. They are already 14x7  I'm still stuck trying to decide between 165/55/14s and 185/60/14s on the tires. I don't mind the stretch, but I've never seen pics of 185/60s on a vehicle with 14x7s. My old honda ran 185/60s but on 14x6s... Will 185/60s fit under the rear with a 14x7 and +13 offset? Edit: well shit... Looks like I measured incorrectly since its from where the tire bead seals on one side to the other. Probably 14x6s... Almost frustrated enouh to get rid of these and go to 15s. So with the 14x6 in mind, I'm still searching for 165/55 or 165/60s
  11. So, anyone know if Experimental Engineering (VG30.com) has completely shut down? The site has been "under construction" for months now.

I spoke with them on FB. The new site really is under development but he is still manufacturing the parts if you contact him. Just need to find a VG33 oil pan so I can have it modded and get the mounts.

  12. Red and black watts would go better with his swinger style...
  13. Lol, I blame all of us for picking on his weak FJ20. He needs to show that he can make some real HP now :P
  14. Good idea, now I feel like an idiot :P I'll start with the booster area since that's where most people have issues, and if that's not it I'll try the brakes themselves. Just to be sure, the rear resevior from the front of the truck, or the closest resevior to the booster, goes to the rear brakes right? We just found the out about the leak today so I haven't looked under the truck yet. Plan on working on it after work.
  15. Got a call at work, looks like there are more issues that require me to keep the daily driven cougar for now. First there's a slow leak (one inch of fluid in 3 months) that is somehow connected to the rear resevior on the brake master cyl. There are some hoses to replace, mainly the radiator and crankcase breather hoses. I have to wire in the new fuse block (anyone got spare connectors for one?). Have to figure out my wiper motor issue, and wire in a tag light. That is all on top of figuring out the mounting for the new radiator and replacing the thermo housing and alternator mount. All small stuff for the most part but working 13-14 hour days till Monday is a pain. The most upsetting part was putting in the new radiator and figuring out that we have to drill new holes to mount it. Sucks to have it running for half an hour just to screw it up cause you decide to throw another part on it and don't have the tools to finish the job (no drill) Any tips on checking for that brake leak would be greatly appreciated.
  16. Any tips on tracking down a slow leak in my brakes? Rear resevior has lost an inch of fluid in three months. Seems too slow to detect.

Could be a seal in the caliper or wheel cylinders. Since the parts are cheap I would just buy all knew hoses and rebuild the calipers and wheel cylinders. Or all four calipers (if that is what is equipped). It would be obvious if the leak was coming from the booster, or cylinder.

It's all drums. I may look at replacing all of it in the near future though. Have some of beebani's disc brake brackets for the front if I ever get around to buying the parts.

I've just been borrowing a drop a day ... don't get mad bro it's for science

  17. Those look nice and comfy. I have been looking for decent condition porsche "tombstones" for a while but no luck yet. Still wary of swapping the seats in the B210 cause of that stupid cat humb though... The only thing I'm not a fan of is the seat belt guide at the top. Makes them look a little too modern imo.
  18. Moar Lowar? Ok, not really, but I present operation fix that mofuggin vibration: The surgery room The replacement The repair And voila, a running 620 that now doesn't have that horrible carrier bearing donut anymore. Well, I say running. We decided to take out the old radiator and put in the new donor but ofc it doesn't fit 100%. We're gonna need to drill some holes and get a few bolts and nuts for it, but then it's back in driving business.
  19. The 620 lives! Still a ton of work to do but it's back :)

  20. She lives! It's dark as shit outside so no pics, but here's the story: I was walking from the store and my grandma and uncle stopped by. He asked if he could put up his tent and stay at my place for a few days. This guy is a certified mechanic from the oldschool days. 30 minutes and we have the electronic ignition (thanks Eagle Adam) on and the carb tuned. Runs like a dream. Hell, it actuall sounds better than the crap cougar I've been DDing. Still have to replace the thermo housing, thermo, and drop in the new radiator, but all in all I'm very happy.
  21. Looks awesome. I sent a very long drawn out response to your PM :P Love the look of the JDM interior. That would be perfect IMO.
  22. Hey bud, sorry I've been slapping you around, I'm just jelly :( So, if I slick my hair back all guido like and send a few pics will you do me a favor? I might even throw on the nana hamuck... I really do love the truck. Still not sold on the FJ cause of the hassle for parts, even with it being such a great engine. It's definitely got that wow factor though. I'm sure the wagon will be just as clean and great. At least you're not a z guy yet :poke:
  23. He was afraid... Big boys aren't used to going that fast :P
  24. Very nice :) The only thing I would do with that truck is drive the hell out of it. That and maybe lower it just a tad more
  25. But you no like tits... Don't you mean moobs? Those are some really clean VWs you've posted. Now you just need to hurry up and get one of your datsuns finished...
