no. people put them facing forward for "cold air" rushing into the car from the speed your going. but a snorkel your trying to avoid water getting in when you dive in to a puddle so you want it to face away. it will be fine with a filter on the end

ive seen them up by the top of the cab. it should be fine up there.

I say hardbody. we had a 93 hardbody v6 that ran like a champ with zero issues at 210k. 2nd choice is a Toyota with 22re with ifs for daily driving. rangers are iffy. Hubs go out on the daily. wasn't fond of the 2.9 in my uncles but the 4.0L wasn't bad. don't know much about s10s. they look like a hit or miss. same with Dakotas. I know a lot of people like the small v8 they got In all STAY FOREIGN
