These types of threads are getting ridiculous. Not a single member that has started a thread like this has become a successful contributing member. Yeah, but even with two cars in the same powerband they are two totally different cars. Other than the hatch for a bit, the STi was always an AWD family car that kicked ass and took names. BRZ is still a small 2-seater RWD sport car. Obviously since the WRX has more meat on its bones, it needs more power/torque to help get it moving, but I dont think increasing the power or the BRZ will ever hurt STi sales.

Yeah angle is horrible and the hub depth is something like .5in wider than 510 if I remember correctly. So while everyone goes to 280zx for .75 deeper dish wheels, youd have to run .5in less dish than stock 510 wheels.

Ive always been a fan of their work. One of the few kits Ive enjoyed... especially since Im not a huge S-chassis fan. I had watched a cool video on them once. On how that shop is basically one dude and he does everything. Hes also a huge designer for other companies too. Theres a difference between making people feel nostalgic and trying to impress people. Apparently no one here knows what youre trying to accomplish. You want to track the car, but you want 200hp out of a easy to work on engine, you want it super cheap, you only want to autocross it, and now its suppose to be drivable on the street? Am I close? Heres the breakdown kid: If you want to circuit race it, youre going to need power. If you stick with a stock engine youre going to dump money into it to get power. Youre going to hate it on the street. If you want to autocross it, you dont need much power as its a balance of power and being able to take the turns appropriately If you want to drive it on the street and maybe see a track day or two then buy something and make it reliable. It seems like youre trying to mix too many things together to be happy. Its not going to happen for your first classic car. I applaud you for your desire to move out of the shit Honda World, but you cant come to a site devoted to Datsuns, ask highly knowledgeable members their opinion, and then disregard everything we say. We might know a thing or two. We arent trying to scare you off... most of us want to share the enjoyment of owning a Datsun. What we dont want to see is an inexperience kid come in, take on too much of a project, and either ruin it with his poor mechanics ability or run the car into the wall (or worse another driver) because you cant handle what youre doing out there yet. Either buy a different newer car to do all your racing or buy a 510 to learn on. Then once you know what youre doing behind a wrench, then you can get behind the wheel on the track. There are plenty of people that race Datsuns in the World... but they also arent knew to the game either.

So where did the name come from?- SR71. Is it because youre endgame is high speeds? Or maybe because the Z slightly resembles a Blackbird cockpit? Or maybe you want to paint the car flat black? Looks like nice work so far. Like mentioned, it will be interesting to see you actually finish. No one really seems to successfully drift Datsuns... not outside the parking lot anyway.

Well youre going to have to learn quick. Its a 40yr old car that youre going to be beating on at the track. Things are going to break constantly... Have you any experience racing on a track? Have you any experience turning a wrench? I dont think its wise for your first introduction to owning a classic car is to make it a track car. There will be way too many issues for you to keep up. Eventually your VERY skilled family will hate you for always calling them over to fix your car. I think you need to look at a newer car to take to the track first. Or buy a 510 and learn how to work on it before you start throwing high revs, horsepower, and a bunch of parts swaps at it. When you list "tow hooks" as an upgrade, youre not ready to build a car.

Why dont you find someone local and sit in one? Everyones legs and torsos are different lengths, even at the same height. If youre really going to make a racecar, then modifying a seat lower or farther back shouldnt be a problem for you.

Yeah it will bolt in, but your LCA and ball joint angles will be all super fucked. They arent close to the same as any of the Datsun pieces.
