Duncan
With the Ronal Teddy Bear wheels and the Hello Kitty Shifter, you need some My Little Pony floor mats now to complete the Trifecta 🙂 Quote Link to comment

We ordered a set of Ronal R-10 Turbos... but the seller flaked and we never got them. They were supposed to arrive the day after my Teddy Wheel post. Waddayagonnado? So, with that out of the way, I have to say that I am getting pretty "not terrible" at making shift gaiters. New Bride gaiter trimmed and installed... We circumcised the reverse lockout ring but it left too much rod exposed under the knob (IF you know what I mean!). I added some "Snake-Skin" to tie the room together... I think the whole thing turned out pretty well (...good? ...well? What is grammatically correct here?)... I have a couple purple knobs and a purple gaiter that I may experiment with. Stay tuned. For example, "it turned out to be a good shift boot, irregardless of my skills". 😁 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Use newspeak. Good, then for something ,'double good' and finally for something extremely good there's 'double plus good' Quote Link to comment

dimlight65
New month, new knob! I brought the attaching ring and uncircumcised reverse lockout home... so I can build the purple Bride gaiter. I may have that on there tomorrow. All was well until you inserted that irregardless mess. 🤣 1 Quote Link to comment

I was going by the textbook definition... Quote An adjective is a part of speech that modifies a noun or pronoun. Adjectives usually tell what kind, how many, or which about nouns or pronouns. An adverb is a part of speech that modifies another verb, or an adjective. It is often recognized by the suffix -ly at the end of it. I believe (perhaps falsely?) that in my usage of "good" as a modifier for "shift boot", it is then an adjective. Grammar nazis unite! Edited March 13, 2024 by datsunfreak Quote Link to comment
dimlight65
Interesting... and by "interesting" I mean, "SHUT UP NERDS!" Back to me now. I finally got around to taking pictures of the purple Bride gaiter installed... Since I sewed the uncircumcised reverse lockout into this gaiter, I had to run the "carbon fiber" knob instead of the purple one. I think it works and this one doesn't get as hot as the anodized aluminum one did. 1 Quote Link to comment

Another one of those words people use that think it makes them "sound smart". You're right on good being an adjective used that way. 1 Quote Link to comment

Duncan
The purple gaiter is hella-good, irregardless. "I lose my mind, and then I loose my keys pretty good sometimes. In retrospect, it's arbitrary." 1 Quote Link to comment

dimlight65
I missed 80085 (BOOBS), so I'm going to have to celebrate... the B BOOB! And B boobs ARE pretty nice, come to think of it. Quote Link to comment
dimlight65
So, yesterday I decided to take the cross country route home from work. Here's the data Maxwell collected... And here's the data driving the freeway in to work this morning... Going home (1st picture) was with the A/C on, "spirited driving," and manually controlling the throttle. Going to work (2nd picture) was A/C off, BTWIGT speeds, and cruise control when possible. And here's a very blurry picture of the results of freeway home, A/C on, a couple 90mph blats on the freeway, and generally driving like... well, ME! So, the take away is... oh hell, I don't know. Data are fun? Yeah, we'll just go with that. 1 Quote Link to comment

We'll see. And the winner is Saturday... And it turns out the Mercedes dealer replaced my "Non-Union, Mexican equivalent K&N" air filter with a standard paper unit at the last service. I wondered why my top speed* dropped from 100 to 99. I just ordered another NUMEKN from Amazon. It should be here tomorrow. *The car is "governed" to 98 miles per hour. A Dynomax muffler got me to 99mph. The NUMEKN got me to the Ton. Splainin' how "improved performance" fools an electronic nanny is above my pay grade. I'm just reporting what I saw. dimlight65
Stock paper filter vs NUMEKN... And with the NUMEKN installed, I swear the car feels lighter, more spritely, and more nimble. Yes, I know it's probably all psychological. Shut up. 1 Quote Link to comment
dimlight65
Don't you just hate it when you do something stupid? Yeah, the interior mirror slides off of its mount. Don't twist it. Don't pry it. 1 Quote Link to comment
dimlight65
Well, it has been a minute, has it not? I got the windshield replaced and the mirror mount fell off the instant I tried to adjust the mirror. We tried to glue it back on, using an actual mirror mount glue, but it fell off as I attempted to reinstall the mirror to it. Fuck it. I just won't have a damned interior mirror anymore. Then, a few weeks later, the front suspension "CLUNK" returned. I decided to suck it up and let Mercedes find and fix the issue. Well, they gave me a list of issues they wanted to fix. Of course they wanted to re-replace the windshield. Nope. They wanted to re-replace the windshield wipers. Nope, you replaced them the last time I had you service the car. They wanted to replace the steering rack. Nope, and I will 'splain why they wanted to, below. They wanted to polish my headlights. Nope... well, I mean, yeah. I'd love for that to be done but $350 seems a bit steep! They didn't like the oil leak... and wanted to charge $250 to find it, then who knows how much to fix it. Nope... well, I mean, yeah. Neither do I but I'm here for the "CLUNK" today. As for that, they determined that the "CLUNK" was coming from inside the house! Wait, no. That's the phone call. The "CLUNK" was coming from the tie rod ends. I approved the cheap option of "replace the outers and do the alignment." Of course it wasn't the outers... it was the more expensive inners. (More expensive because the rack has to come out to replace them, hence the "Might as well replace the rack while we're in here.") With the inner and outer tie rods replaced, the "CLUNK" seems to be gone. Huzzah! But apparently while Max was disabled on their rack waiting for tie rods to be delivered, the tech decided to go ahead and polish the headlights for me gratis! So, I'm pretty chuffed about that. dimlight65
Well, 2025 isn't starting out so great for me. Had a bit of a merging incident the other morning. My driver's side rear... met up with the tool box of a truck... I'm now 99% convinced he merged into me. Unfortunately, I was focused on the truck I was merging in front of and didn't even consider the fact that a) Interstate 20 merges into Loop 820 at that same point (far left lane of 820 becomes the far right lane of I20) and therefore 2) there could have been a second truck on I20. All I told the cop about was truck 1, which I thought was this guy, so I got the ticket. No one was hurt but I'm quite annoyed, as Juan would expect. I guess the silver lining is I get to buy new wheels. 1 Quote Link to comment
