We ordered a set of Ronal R-10 Turbos... but the seller flaked and we never got them. They were supposed to arrive the day after my Teddy Wheel post. Waddayagonnado? So, with that out of the way, I have to say that I am getting pretty "not terrible" at making shift gaiters. New Bride gaiter trimmed and installed... We circumcised the reverse lockout ring but it left too much rod exposed under the knob (IF you know what I mean!). I added some "Snake-Skin" to tie the room together... I think the whole thing turned out pretty well (...good? ...well? What is grammatically correct here?)... I have a couple purple knobs and a purple gaiter that I may experiment with. Stay tuned. Drop the "pretty" and just say "it turned out well". Stick to using "good" as an adjective before, not after. For example, "it turned out to be a good shift boot, irregardless of my skills". 😁 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Use newspeak. Good, then for something ,'double good' and finally for something extremely good there's 'double plus good' Quote Link to comment

Thank you. 1 Quote Link to comment

dimlight65
New month, new knob! I brought the attaching ring and uncircumcised reverse lockout home... so I can build the purple Bride gaiter. I may have that on there tomorrow. Edited March 2 by dimlight65 1 Quote Link to comment

All was well until you inserted that irregardless mess. 🤣 1 Quote Link to comment

I was going by the textbook definition... Quote An adjective is a part of speech that modifies a noun or pronoun. Adjectives usually tell what kind, how many, or which about nouns or pronouns. An adverb is a part of speech that modifies another verb, or an adjective. It is often recognized by the suffix -ly at the end of it. I believe (perhaps falsely?) that in my usage of "good" as a modifier for "shift boot", it is then an adjective. Grammar nazis unite! Edited March 13 by datsunfreak Quote Link to comment
dimlight65
Interesting... and by "interesting" I mean, "SHUT UP NERDS!" Back to me now. I finally got around to taking pictures of the purple Bride gaiter installed... Since I sewed the uncircumcised reverse lockout into this gaiter, I had to run the "carbon fiber" knob instead of the purple one. I think it works and this one doesn't get as hot as the anodized aluminum one did. 1 Quote Link to comment

Another one of those words people use that think it makes them "sound smart". You're right on good being an adjective used that way. 1 Quote Link to comment

Duncan
The purple gaiter is hella-good, irregardless. "I lose my mind, and then I loose my keys pretty good sometimes. In retrospect, it's arbitrary." 1 Quote Link to comment

This sentence gave me the heebiest of jeebies. I am eternally thankful I did not read this right before bedtime. 2 Quote Link to comment

dimlight65
So, yesterday I decided to take the cross country route home from work. Here's the data Maxwell collected... And here's the data driving the freeway in to work this morning... Going home (1st picture) was with the A/C on, "spirited driving," and manually controlling the throttle. Going to work (2nd picture) was A/C off, BTWIGT speeds, and cruise control when possible. And here's a very blurry picture of the results of freeway home, A/C on, a couple 90mph blats on the freeway, and generally driving like... well, ME! So, the take away is... oh hell, I don't know. Data are fun? Yeah, we'll just go with that. 1 Quote Link to comment

And the winner is Saturday... And it turns out the Mercedes dealer replaced my "Non-Union, Mexican equivalent K&N" air filter with a standard paper unit at the last service. I wondered why my top speed* dropped from 100 to 99. I just ordered another NUMEKN from Amazon. It should be here tomorrow. *The car is "governed" to 98 miles per hour. A Dynomax muffler got me to 99mph. The NUMEKN got me to the Ton. Splainin' how "improved performance" fools an electronic nanny is above my pay grade. I'm just reporting what I saw. dimlight65
Stock paper filter vs NUMEKN... And with the NUMEKN installed, I swear the car feels lighter, more spritely, and more nimble. Yes, I know it's probably all psychological. Shut up. 1 Quote Link to comment
