Icehouse
I know my Datto family spends lots of time hunting for parts. If anyone runs across a parts truck let me know. We need the 4.6 gears for our racecar. They are apparently the only low long nose R180 gears. I've only ever seen a few L series 720 4x4's so my guess is it's a rare unit. Thanks datto family! 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Two possibilities.... 1/ The '80 720 4X4 LONG BED used an R-180 with 4.625 gears. Needed 2/ All Z24i equipped '86-'89 WD21 Pathfinders used an R-180 front differential with 4.625 gearing. The VG Pathfinders were R-200 and they never used the KA in them. From '90 on they were All VG powered. These are the only 4.625 R-180s that I know of, and it had to be geared for a puny L20B to pull a heavy loaded long bed or Z24i to pull Pathfinder around.. 1 Quote Link to comment

The D21 used a R180 short nose 😞 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I thought the picture looked shorter. Gear set should be the same but the Pathfinder went to M11 bolts and 4 pinion. I've never seen anything but VG powered Pathfinders. Jesus the gear set is almost $700 Canadian. Quote Link to comment
thisismatt
Gear set won't be the "same" as the pinion snoot is shorter 1 Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Correct but the '84 and up CA20E in the S12 used a long nose R-180 and they were all 4.11 Quote Link to comment

I could use the bed if it is a standard bed, and shipping and condition is not too bad. Pics are rather small, and I'm not able to get them any bigger. So, the condition can't be checked. SLO720
Looks like seller was located out of Idaho. It's definitely 4x4 with transfer case shifter in cab and manual hubs upfront. Have to join fb group to message seller, but link is there to specific post @620slodat @Icehouse https://www.facebook.com/groups/720Owners/permalink/2250831758417816/ Edited July 14, 2022 by SLO720 Quote Link to comment
NC85ST
I’m pretty sure that’s a long bed. Look at the length between the back of the cab and the front of the rear wheel. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
That's a regular cab long wheelbase truck with the 'long box'. There were also regular cab short wheelbase trucks having the same cab but shorter box on the back. The king cab is also on a long wheelbase frame but with an extended cab and using the short wheelbase box. The difference between a long and short box is about the difference between a regular cab and a king cab about 9.4" Quote Link to comment
