five1oh
I was able to visit my coupe and bring home the rear window and some interior during James' meet. Can't wait to start making progress on this car 🙂 Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr 1 Quote Link to comment
five1oh
So a lot of you have followed my SHAKOTN build the past 3 years and I am excited to say that my original vision for that car will be lived out in THIS one. As sad as it will be to sell that car this one will be a worthy replacement... Using my good friend Naveed's shots from my Z Speedhunters feature and my WHACK photoshop skills I present to you the goal for this car. 🙂 😁 CACTUS GREEN COUPE HERE WE COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DARIN 510
Wait. What ? Your gonna part out the green 510 for this coupe? Why. And green again lol 1 Quote Link to comment
BrothersGarage
I knew there was a difference between the couple and sedan in the design of the roof line but your Photoshop images really make a difference. Once SHAKOTN is sold off are you basically at your dream garage with this new couple , Z, and hakosuka? Now that you've got the starter for your coupe build - anything you learned from SHAKOTN that you plan to do differently for this one? Same cactus green? Note: You need a better name for this build. how about OopSSSie? (fuckin with you) Edited September 16, 2020 by BrothersGarage Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The Coupe A pillar is different containing a windshield that is actually shorter than the sedan and there is a hard fold line across the front of the roof just above the windshield, missing in the sedan. The roof line from drip rail to drip rail is also taller in the middle of the Coupe than the sedan. 1 Quote Link to comment

My experience has been its cheaper to build plus with all my parts hoarding and collecting I can make the car I actually was planning to make with the sedan.....while the sale of the current car will fund the finish of the body/paint on my skyline. Note: You need a better name for this build. how about OopSSSie? (fuckin with you) For the most part YES. The ultimate for me has always been hako and coupe, since the Fairlady found me I revised my thinking to keep all 3. If the green sedan gets a good price I will try to keep my OG 69 2 door then I will have the complete garage: 1. Hako GTR tribute - safari gold 2. 1800 SSS Coupe - cactus green 3. Fairlady Z - monte carlo red 4. US spec 510 - alaska white To be honest I built SHAKOTN exactly how I wanted a coupe so this car will be close to identical. ALL the proper badging, trim, etc. The only difference will be the body pushed out 1/2" more to clear the new Watanabe Gotti 15x8.5 -6 wheels 😳 For the name - even the plate will stay with the new car so it will be SHAKOTN.....not sure how I will distinguish lol On 9/16/2020 at 7:47 PM, mrbigtanker said: Sooooooooooo I’m painting my coupe the same green to match my other 2 cactus green Datsuns. datzenmike
This could pass for an L18 or even an L16 but the rest are L20B Quote Link to comment

When I was putting my cactus green car up for sale on BaT I had Fitted Garage do a compression check and 2 cylinders were bad. So I ended up installing my LZ22 that was supposed to go in this coupe. I am thankful it happened because the head that is on this L20B had a ton of work done to it. The L20B that came out of the green car felt much stronger/quicker than the LZ22 that replaced it. So needless to say I rebuilt a new L20b block and then this head and 44 carbs will go on it. Super excited to one day finish the build lol Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
So the L20B has the floating flattop pistons? Quote Link to comment

five1oh
So after owning this coupe for almost 2 years and doing nothing but spending money gathering all the missing pieces to make it complete as well as all the patch panels I realized I don't have the time/resources to see it to completion. I really need to focus on my 2 door hako project and want cars I can drive. James wanted it back so he came and picked it up this past week. I have no doubt this car will come back to life quicker and better than I would be able to do. Take it away James. Looking forward to seeing the progress on this one 🙂 Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Edited February 28, 2022 by five1oh 2 Quote Link to comment
