fiveoneoh!
Whats up, ive had a sr in my 510 for about 4 years now its all stock, but lately its been smoking like crazy when its under load, i know its running really rich but i doubt its that. Its white smoke. Does anyone know a good engine guy cuz if its the rings i wanna upgrade, or if its the turbo i wanna do the same, and also the guys that did my swap kinda half assed it so it needs some clean up. Any help would be appreciated. 1 Quote Link to comment

racerx
Is it overheating? Could be head gasket. What color is smoke, white? Check your dipstick and if oil and water is mix, good indication its blown head gasket. Check your spark plugs too? If dark and sooty then too rich. Good luck. 1 Quote Link to comment
G-Duax
If it has been running really rich for 4 years, the cylinders & rings are probably shot. Caused by being constantly washed down due to access fuel. 1 Quote Link to comment
fiveoneoh!
I think your right g-duax, in order to rule that, i need to do a leak down right. Wouldnt it be smoking all the time though? Cuz idle or no boost no smoke. 1 Quote Link to comment

Ratwagon1600
Theres pics of it in one of my post i put a along time ago Sigh. If you want help you’re going to have to ante up. From my experience on this site, Ratsun peeps are generally lazy and don’t want to go searching for pics somewhere else. The Lord helps those who help themselves. 2 Quote Link to comment

Requires 2 peo people. 1 Quote Link to comment

Lozer
Check you intake tubing and see how oily it is. the breather systems on sr's are notorious for blowing oil into the intake. How is your catch can/ pcv system? also possibly wasted seals on the turbo. 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Theres pics of it in one of my post i put a along time ago ..and probably Photobucket which no longer works. Black....... too rich White...... steam from coolant, can also be oil if extreme..... should be obvious which one if cooant or oil levels go down Blue........ burnt oil Oil seal in turbo is pooched? Oil drainback is coked and restricted. 1 Quote Link to comment

Icehouse
I wanted the engine bay picture to see how things were hooked up. Could help make sense of the issue. Although if it was good for a few years unless you changed something... 1 Quote Link to comment

fiveoneoh!
You see the black hose, that leads to my valve cover, if i fold it in half and pinch it shut it stops the smoke, so i put a restrictor in the hose and now it doesnt smoke only once in a while. 1 Quote Link to comment
G-Duax
It has to do with your engine being shot, and putting out way too much blow-by. A restrictor will just lead to too much crankcase pressure, and blowing out the crank seals. Putting bandaids on it isn't the answer. Quote Link to comment
