  1. Started tearing out all the old stuff and prepping for the new. Had to bore out the old injector holes to fit the new r35 gtr injectors. My fuel rail from Plazmaman came in and looks awesome. The most challenging part was fabing up the harness connector from the new JWT ecu to the old harness. Had to add a couple wires for the TPS and new z32 maf. In retrospect I probably should have done a megasquirt but I have no experience with tuning fuel and timing maps.
  2. Some of my parts started showing up from the far east. Got a r31 Spoiler for the trunk (I like the style). Scored some awesome retro rear shelf speakers that were restored with working drivers and cones. Then took her out for a last shoot before I yank this turbo set up and redo the hole shebang.
  3. Got a chance to take her out for an autoX @ sonoma back in October. Had a blast, discovered the r200 clsd is borked so I lit some 1 tire fires and got terrible times but still had a blast. I picked up some Stance s14 coilovers for the rear after the autoX. Fronts have what look to be 280zx t3 coilovers installed with 220 lbs spring. Gonna need to bring those up a bit to match the new stance coilovers.
  4. Started with the basics. Leak down was good, Got a wide band, AFR's were lean at high boost (above 8 psi) Boost was inconsistent and felt weak. Replaced the "stock" fuel pump with a Bosch 044 and the lean issue went away. Took the exhaust off and found the bearings to the turbo were mostly gone ( still spinney but fair amount of play). Replaced a shit load of hoses and vacuum lines. Blew out the radiator and flushed the ever living hell out of the engine ( lots of rust in the coolant).

  7. Hi all, I'm working on my new DR30 skyline project these days and I'm trying to work out some north American replacement parts. I'm wondering if someone can measure the stock 510 front LCA and post it up. I'm also curious if anyone has the max lengths of some adjustable lca? (futo fab, t3, ect... The ball joint in the DR30 is a press in unit that has a highs tendency to fail when a new one is pressed in. Thansk guys

  10. Hi all, I picked up a dr30 skyline that has an fj20et in it. Im wondering if anyone has some experience tuning the stock ecu/ flapper setup for bigger injectors and a turbo?
  11. Nope, in fact it cleared up all the off lean rich spikes. Mind you its after the intercooler just before the maf.
  12. With the placement of the maf watch for super rich to lean spikes. When I first did mine the run from the maf to the turbo was to short and caused wild rich to lean swings. My fix was running the maf in front of the throttle body. It's been working there for 1.5 years and quite a few autoxs. Nice ride.
  13. Yea i have an inch/lb and nm wrench for tiny stuff. Those 10mm bolts dont take much to torque if your concened theres always good ole red loctite.
  14. Have you thought of rolling paint on the car? And yes im serious. 3 coats wetsand with 600 3 more coats wetsant with 800 1 coat 1000 grit 1 coat 1200 till you hit 3k. Lot of work but you will have a flawless mirror of paint. Use a 3" foam roller and let the coats get tacky before the next and dry for 24 before sanding. Btw this is for single stage. Or you could rent an industrial compressor go buy a harbor freight gun and wet sand the orange peel out after 4 coats

  16. I saw that and Samurai Gourmet (odd food porn). Man, James may is an awkward guy to watch. I'm setting up an r32 or r33 rental on the Friday before I leave gonna spend all night cruising the freeways rhd with a skyline. I'm trying to either find a track day at Motegi, Tsukuba or Fiji international. We already have tickets and plans to see some sumo wrestling. Was thinking about a day at Disney or universal studios.
  17. Thanks guys, got some good stuff in here. I'll be sure to avoid the non datsun trannys and fingerless Yaks. Were hitting a bunch of temples, and we got our train passes, just got a wad of yen delivered and the clock is ticking I am hunting for some jdm rims and seats for my dime so shipping and transport should be even more fun. Anyone familiar with some super rare Datsun stuff to hunt while over-there.

  20. Ive used brake cleaner to good effect. Works to get the black staining out of a brake master reservoir.
  21. Hey Guys, I'm trying to glass in some bre flares on my dime and i've got them looking good with the exception of the super sonic line. I can't seem to get it perfectly smooth. Any tips would be great.

  23. Longer runners are where its at for torque. Something about intake pulses and tuning the length of the runner. Im running an s13 sr20det intake and am pretty happy with the low end. Ive deiven a similar set up to mine with the short runner tube/box intake and was not impressed with the low end but it pulled substantially longer up high.
