denmarkboy
This is F. R. E. D. . . . . . F.ast R.epair E.very D.atsun Fred was a local guy that many of us in Oregon knew , He did local mechanical work and loved sharing his truck with anyone that asked . Draker and I saved this truck , His wife was forced to liquidate all his assets . The truck has sat since January when fred passed away . When we found the truck in the A&E collision shop in the corner leaking fuel and wouldn't run . trans has no 5th or reverse . burns oil like a little train . We have decided to dedicate this truck to fred and his love of " Built not Bought " mentality . So "Fred" plates will be ordered for the truck . Future plans include a full service / chase truck for any datsuns . so the truck will get a service bed , crane , welder , generator , air compressor , tons of lights , new trans , rebuild the engine . 9 Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Here it is easier to see that the center line rib or casting line goes up beside the right hand bolt on the top by the head. An L series will have that rib over beside the left hand bolt. Same bolt pattern just rotated slightly to match the engine position. Z series L series It all involves the position or tilt of the engine the transmission bolts to. L engines are tilted 12 degrees to the pass side of vertical. Z series are maybe 8 degrees to the driver's side of vertical. BTW the Z and the KA series tilts are the same. 3 Quote Link to comment

Elkie
Awesome looking truck. What was the scoop on roof for? Just air flow in cabin? 1 Quote Link to comment
Ericthenorse
Scoop?? In the first few pictures you see a little air dam to direct air over the roof rack.... In the last few pictures, he has the hood sitting on the rack.... 1 Quote Link to comment
Elkie
Can clearly see it in these pics and the side under the roof rack 3 Quote Link to comment
denmarkboy
Sorry I haven't followed up guys. . It is a functional air scoop , rally type connection on the inside for air to your helmets . Some took the trim piece , and I haven't had any luck matching anything up. So I put the rack on it . 2 Quote Link to comment
125 CSL
Have an old guy that shows up at my shop also. Machinist. Meet him some years ago and now he shows up with beer and donuts and for the most part gets in the way. Some times helpful. Mostly he just seems to have adapted the shop as his beer fridge. The donuts are not to bad, but the coors light  1 Quote Link to comment
fastdadd
just my 2 cents...keep the flat bed and still setup for a chase rig 3 Quote Link to comment
denmarkboy
just my 2 cents...keep the flat bed and still setup for a chase rig The flat bed is very poorly built. And the service bed will allow for tools , and a crane for pulling engines . Etc . 2 Quote Link to comment
Brohemius
As Al said that flatbed is total trash. And we truly found out how trash today, i stopped by and had some fun. Tearing into it! Rotted as fuck. Super rotted... All the stupid wood flatbed shit is gone! Got rid of these... Al Cutting the knarly welds away. And gone! Oh also changed the gears in the li'l hooker. And FRED is now basically ready for the service bed. Had fun today Al! 3 Quote Link to comment

denmarkboy
The service bed is getting closer to being done , but still needs some more work . future plans will be ; datsun tailgate , flame throwing stacks , welder , air compressor , generator . . . more to come . 7 Quote Link to comment
125 CSL
Depending on your skill level, that tailgate. It would look cool smoothed out then the green color of the cab in the middle of the gate, the rat and wrenches. Would even fit with the theme of the truck. 3 Quote Link to comment

And I intend to use 620 taillights also 4 Quote Link to comment
