Jesse C.
Not sure what the story behind that is; it's been quite a while since the gear up incident and it's not like there is a problem seeing the bottom of the wings. Speaking of which, it looks like #2 is burning a little more oil than the rest. I think they do a smoking engine routine with it and that would add more color to that engine. As for the markings, this bird has some of the most boring one's out there. I know that they where used to honor some donors to keep the bird flying, but, they could have done better with the nose art. 1 Quote Link to comment
MikeRL411
It looks like the number 3 engine is being feathered to compensate for the number 2 engine. Quote Link to comment
gumbyz13
RB57F[?], The 60 foot plane with a 120 foot wing splane! Hard to see because of the angle. U2/TR-1...Worked a few missions with the Black Cats out of Osan AB, ROK back in the early 90s. They had a Mustang GT as their chase car, was pretty bad ass watching them land those things. 1 Quote Link to comment

KiloTango1200
Piaggio Avanti P-180. Piaggio of America is based at the Denton TX airport. Greenpoint Aerospace at Denton is the North American completion and service center. The P-180 is exactly like an Italian sports car. Really fast, really expensive, and is broke most of the time. When it's working it's a 400 knot turboprop. 1 Quote Link to comment

Jesse C.
God bless North American Aviation and Rolls Royce Merlin engins! Beats the hell out of the original Allison engines! Actually, that is a Griffon engine. The P-51 is Precious Metal, Unlimited Racer, and it just suffered a on board fire that nearly destroyed the plane. They are hoping they can salvage the plane and get back to racing. It was on its way to Reno when it happened during a re-fueling stop at a small airport. 2 Quote Link to comment
KiloTango1200
Cool picture. At that altitude New Horizons would melt into a liquid blob. 2 Quote Link to comment
