This car gave me a shit ton of grief....... .......got it running and ran great..... First break in drive I got stuck in 5 minutes of traffic and it started warming up........ :poop: ....I ended up having multiple issues before it finally left... :poop: Temp sensor for the aftermarket pusher fan was not turnung the fans on soon enough... ...tried hard wiring a switch in.....still warmed up in traffic.... .....changed to a cooler t-stat......still warmed up..... Fuckin piece of shit VW radiator......finally got a Koyo.....got rid of the stupid pusher fan..... ...but guess what....they cut out the radiator support....so had to make a bracket.... :no: .....added a fixed fan and BAM.........good to go..... 3 days later...........head gasket starts leaking coolant externally...... ......I gave you one last chance FELPRO....you are truly :poop: :poop: :fu: Redo head gasket and FINALLY continued with break in......... 3 Quote Link to comment

I always found bad radiators to cause heating up when the car was in motion... usually under load like climbing a long grade or whatever. If the car cools down as soon as it's in motion but heats up again when it's not, like in traffic, it's probably got enough radiator but not an efficient enough fan. I had a 70 Dodge Dart a while ago that I swapped a 400 v8 into, I also put the biggest aluminum radiator I could fit.... it was massive. Even though it was a big block with only a flex fan it ran too cool actually, to the point where the temp needle was barely reading anything, except idling. If it SAT even for a short period or would boil over. Finding the appropriate fan setup solved that problem. Quote Link to comment

It may have been....but I never let it get past 220-230........shouldn't have leaked........ where do you get all these L20b from? i can't even find 1. :ninja: Actually.....one was an L18....I think a canada model or something.... ....smog stuff was missing....has a nice exhaust mani without the air injection ports :thumbup: ....crank pulley had only one groove also..... 3 Quote Link to comment
