Time for a new thread......I'm taking on a few Datsun projects over the next few months and don't want to start new threads for each one......

........so this will be my thread for the shit I do......I'm always doing something......

 

Upcoming projects:

 

-69 or 70 roadster to put back together after it was stripped down, almost put back together, then just sat for 7 years.....

 

-72 510 2dr....wants a complete engine rebuild and tighten all loose ends....this was the silver one I used to post about in a thread called "NOT my 510"

...........can't find the thread anymore.........I assume it was deleted for lack of content.......

..............................the owner of the dime was suppose to start posting but you know how that goes........

 

-^^...this guys dad has the SUPER clean blue one you might have seen posted around here.......

...........says when his son's is done he's gonna bring me his to dial in some suspension and various other things he wants done...........

 

-One more potential build.....guy wants a project but has little mechanical skills....looking for a rolling shell I think to build as he pleases.....

 

-Just acquired an L20B that needs a rebuild and an L16 that is probably toast but I'm not deeming it a boat anchor till I get through with it..........

 

 

 

OICS...........

 

L20B.....has the w58 head....round exhaust ports....really??....is this what they called round exhaust ports??....looks like you could pull those sleeves right out....

 

I might add that this is all new to me.....first L20B that I'm gonna see the insides of....I've only had 2 L series engines in pieces...mine & skyblue's....

 

Input on head designs, exhaust manifolds, intake designs, dizzys and whatnot is always welcome......

.............................I'm doing my research but always nice to know what people actually have and have experienced........

Well I will be following this thread. Although I will most likely see these puppies getting built first hand.

 

 

 

 

Edit: also, if u need a guinea pig to break in the engines and/or make sure they're running good I volunteer.

Maybe in the future......for this L20.....5Teezy will break her in......then right back out it comes........

Damn, title change already?

L16 is freed up......can go full revolutions and all you can feel is the rusty walls...... :thumbup:

Skyblue came by yesterday and ripped most of the L20 apart......

 

Oil came out pretty clean.....

Don't know how......but some tin foil got in there..........butter than a bearing :sweat:

Well......did some pokin' around and found out that this W58 head I have is a rare one because of the closed chamber.....

...........sleeves are not easily removable and if you do the flow of the port gets FUCT.....

Too bad.....this has big intake ports....about 35mm.....while the A87 head off Skyblue's L16 has 31mm ports.....
