q-tip
They make a welder that fills a hole that big. But you might be able to get a thread insert that will be that big. 1 Quote Link to comment

Busta Nut
timesert > helicoil $$$$$$ $ Yes.....but I don't think heli coil makes one that thick..... ........I'll see what my machine shop recommends...... Thx Draker.......... Quote Link to comment
Draker
They'll fix you up right either way. 2 Quote Link to comment
q-tip
Not time-sert, a key locking thread insert, the real thread insert. I think one for a spark plug would be close to an inch on the o.d. 2 Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
If nothing else, assuming the hole is LOTS bigger than the 14mm thread, it might be as easy as anything to have your machine shop cut you a custom insert that you cement in to the block. You could even thread the block and thread the insert in, custom helicoil style. 3 Quote Link to comment

Lockleaf
Yup. My point was simply that there are times one off custom can be preferable. Just putting that out there. Those are some seriously hardcore inserts those guys make. I've never heard of that company before. Good to know. 2 Quote Link to comment
Draker
If you want something done right... time-sert. They make inserts for everything.. oil drain plugs, head bolts, main bearing caps.. etc. They are tough.. no shitty heli coil. They won't leak either. 4 Quote Link to comment
