kaoss
Slow goings. In fact, the truck is no longer in my garage! But I did get my KA out of my friends D21. and the D21. Build thread on the D21 can be found here: http://www.806minis.com/forums/index.php?topic=310 Quote Link to comment
kaoss
Back from the dead!!! The D21 is leaving my garage tonight. Either this weekend or next weekend I am going to get the frame to the 620 and bring it back to my house. I have everything I need to bag the front, so that will be first on the list. After that here is the short list: Notch the rear 4 link Bags for rear Replace frame rails under the cab replace floor boards on the cab. Put the KA24E on the frame. Bolt cab back on. Relocate gas tank. Get the damn thing running. About 2k and hopefully the middle of next summer I will be able to drive this thing once again! I've scaled this project down quite a bit. I don't know if I am going to enjoy driving it being that I am 6'5", but I just have to build this thing so we will see how far it progresses. Yes, the "original" paint is staying. If i get to the point of paint, I am going to recreate it exactly. 1 Quote Link to comment

kaoss
What I am working with. I scored some of tires of a more fitting size then the ones that were on the truck for next to nothing. So like a mad man I decided to take the 30 year old tires off the original wheels and mount the "new" tires on myself. 6 hours of work later... And that's how that is done ha ha. The result. For anyone that has ever mounted your own tires, take pride in your work!!! 1 Quote Link to comment

kaoss
I shoot with a Canon S5. Got the driver's front torn down, going to start trimming for the bag soon. Quote Link to comment
kaoss
Got the front all the way torn down. From here it is cut city boys. I wish that I could separate the spindle assembly from the lower control arms, but without a replacement king pin set on hand, I'll just have to work with this. Going to take a break from it the next couple of days and then fire up the grinders on Sunday night! Quote Link to comment
kaoss
Driver side got a little loving from the cut off wheel. Rough Smooth Damn, that almost fits in there. Quote Link to comment
freaky510
What baggs are you using?? lookin good Quote Link to comment
kaoss
Slam Specialties RE6's for the front. I haven't decided if I'm going to put a RE6's or RE7's in the back. Thanks everyone for the props. Quote Link to comment
kaoss
The current to do list: Stage 1: Bag front. Triangulate lower control arms. Relocate front shocks. Rear cross member 4 link rear Bag rear Notch frame Mount shocks for rear. Mount gas tank Mount air tank Lower cab mounts Replace frame under cab Clean up KA24E (my motor that i'm swapping in this thing) Install 240sx intake on motor Put KA24E on frame Build new Tranny mount/cross member Build new carrier bearing cross member Get drive shaft made Run new brake and fuel lines. Replace floors in cab put cab on frame tub cab paint firewall wire motor hang sheet metal on cab mount compressors run air management Rebuild brakes Install stereo and some speakers Tag and sticker. This will give me a fully operational mini truck, i may do a few odds and ends to it like repaint the wheels before i go on to the next stage of the build. Stage 2: Body drop the bed. Mount bed. Reupholster seat Lay sound deadning material in cab Lay carpet. Repair/Replace Dash. At this point I will know if i like the truck or not. If i do it's on to this: Stage 3: Shave seems on bed Roll pan with led lights Shave holes in fenders from emblems, marker lights, and gas filler door. Replace front blinkers with led lights Body work paint (exactly like it was, oh yeah.) Then the real fun part: Stage 4: Turbo Bigger injectors LSD 5 lug swap side ways burn outs. kaoss
Well, I'm an inch short when it comes to laying out the front. My options are: 1. rebuild the front cross member, allowing more room for the lower control arm to move up. 2. Swap the truck over to a Nissan HB ball joint set up and run drop spindles. 3. Run a smaller tire. I'm going to go with option #3, it's the cheapest and easiest. Quote Link to comment
kaoss
So this was awesome. To bad that the wheel and tire fell of the jack when I was locating the lower bag plate and the upper control arm hit the bag mount and knocked it off. I was so pissed. Quote Link to comment
corner worker
i need to stop talking about it and bag my 520. I am never going to get the stance I want the traditional way. BTW, nice garage. I always respect a clean work area. Quote Link to comment
kaoss
Thanks. I try to keep things clean. If I were you I would use a narrowed 92ish toyota front clip, this thing is a bitch to bag. Quote Link to comment
corner worker
its funny you say that, I was at a local junk yard this weekend taking measurements from a 94 toyota....if it wasnt so rusty, the front end would have come home with me. Quote Link to comment
bagged 77
Thanks. I try to keep things clean. If I were you I would use a narrowed 92ish toyota front clip, this thing is a bitch to bag. first and only truck i bagged was my 77 620, and i didnt have the front all pulled like yours and it is a bitch to bag i agree, and i made my own brackets from scrap metal. can wiat to see yours done gonna be sick Quote Link to comment
kaoss
Damn this thing is a bitch to bag. Second time around for the driver's side, the frame section is better this time then the first attempt. Still have the bottom bag mount to tack in, then gusseting. The passenger side will come out a lot cleaner, since I've mostly learned what not to do. Quote Link to comment
kaoss
I've had a lot going on lately, vomiting family, divorcing in-laws, Halo, Star Wars Marathon on Spike, you know the usuall stuff. I snuck in a couple of hours over the last week and got the channel for the frame welded up and built one gusset for the upper bag plate. And my new 18" wheels. Quote Link to comment
freb_mc
those titan steels? whats the plan with those? old skool style red steels or what? and props, nice build! Quote Link to comment
kaoss
Yeah, those are 18" Titan Steelies. I'll probably just sand them down and paint them back silver. The Datsun dog dish caps look right at home on them, but it'll take some tricks to get them on there. I may just find a set of the stock Titan caps and throw on there. Quote Link to comment
kaoss
Ha! Weekend just started and I've already set out to do what I wanted to get done! Doesn't get much better than this. It gets good lift also about 2" below stock height. If anyone ever saw me cruise the mazda, normal ride height was about 1/2" off the ground. And my awesome wheels. It looks like an inch and half Z is in store for this thing in order for it to get to lay. Quote Link to comment
