thisismatt
I got a set of these from a friend and have never seen this style wrench before. I'm curious what their intended use is, not to mention what they're called. Perhaps they're just another Sears/Craftsman novelty that didn't catch on...? Quote Link to comment

HRH
I'm thinking maybe a valve train adjustment wrench. Looks like you could stick an allen or screwdriver through the top while holding a jam nut. 4 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Good, good... except why have a hex opening on the other end? Quote Link to comment
HRH
I don't know, but it is interesting that the one side is 12 point, and the other is 6 point. Quote Link to comment
john510
Spark plug wrench ? what size is it ? 1 Quote Link to comment
thisismatt
Spark plug wrench ? what size is it ? It's a whole set. This particular one is 19mm, the largest I got. The rest are kind of buried right now, but they go down to probably 8 or 10mm. But maybe you're on to it...they could be for sensors/senders perhaps...? Quote Link to comment
thisismatt
Found same style... http://www.sears.com/facom-575-fm-76.8-8mm-6x12pt-90-socket/p-SPM1994127501 "Angle and through-hole design accommodates threaded rods or a bar for extra leverage#44; without affecting wrench strength . Deep recess at one end and open-end socket at the other fit over protruding studs" Quote Link to comment
cdub42
looks like a hi-loc wrench for some big ass hi-loc fasteners a hi-loc is like a cross between a rivet and a bolt. its a blind stud with a hole in the middle for an allen wrench. you put the hi-loc wrench on it and turn while holding the allen key to keep the stud or pin from turning. once the fastener reaches a pre determined torque it snaps off leaving just the collar on the pin. they are used almost exclusively in aviation in tight hard to reach areas that are subject to high stresses. Ratwagon1600
In my 30 + years of throwing spanners around I've never seen one of these and I have to say I like it! If cdub aint right on it's actual description, and someone works out exactly what it is, please post in this thread. I need another toll I'll probably only ever use once in my life in my tool box. 1 Quote Link to comment
