Never seen this one before, anyone know about it?

There were lots of things tried but good luck steering it with the front tires up in smoke. Try steering a FWD car on ice with the gas floored. There was a two engine Oldsmobile. It went off the race track.

Tommy Ivo kept his 4 Buick engine car on the track though! 😀

Designed  and built by Noel Black, the Rhinoceros Car was originally a land speed car and it used a streamliner body when on the salt or lakes. It was taken to the drag strip mainly for testing and to see what it could do.

Noel Black lost his life in this car.

A neighbor bought one of the new Toronados. I remember seeing it come up the street while I was getting ready for high school. It just took my breath away.  Has to be one of the top ten most beautiful cars made, certainly by GM. Just.... wow!

Thanks for the info, very interesting! I did some looking and he was a very interesting guy with a lot of talent. I couldn't find any info on what caused the crash only that it happened at around 385 mph. He had several race cars that ran in several different classes at Bonneville, a funny car and a top fuel car as well. He owned B&N Automotive along with Bert Peterson.
