epic 4 cylinder.

Yes it is! Belongs to a good friend. He has gone 195mpg on the salt. Wants to run 200mph for a personal goal. It has dipped into the 8s at over 150mph in the 1/4. It is a bad ass little car!!!

If allowed he should be using a turbo. SC are highly parasitic. Takes 125 hp to drive the compressor to make 300 hp. A turbo is almost all free and then there's inter cooling. This most specially true at top speeds. What about some streamlining? SC plus bug catcher is like a barn door.

We had several 4 cylinder GM engines that were donated to our schools auto shop for display. I don't know if they were Pontiacs. To me they looked like half a chev engine but could be wrong. Did they make other half engines? and would they have been used in a early '60s chevy Nova or chevy II ? This was mid '60 and heavily into the Muscle Car Era and I never gave even a 6 cylinder engine a glance.

At one point the Chevy 4s were used in midget race cars. 🙂

I have wanted to build one of these since I was in HS, not the midget but the motor.

Friend of my dad had one of these in his shop on a stand he had purchased from a guy scrapping his midget sprint. Said he had no idea what to put it in, but liked how it looked. As did I.

How about putting one in one of these? There used to be one around here with a L20B and side drafts sticking out of the side of the hood running around here. They only weigh about 1500 lbs so a 4 cylinder is plenty. 😀

That 4/71 spins pretty damn easy and it makes an est. 600hp on alcohol. No problem making power with that 200ci Pontiac.
