So our R/T model had either a 426 Hemi or a 440 Wedge, and yours had a straight six?!?

I'm not fully across what Valiant had engine wise in the R/T offerings here are so maybe there was also a V8 option, the six cylinder engine in the Valiant Charger was a gutsy engine and were used for racing in the Australian Production Car touring races.

Most probably the "slant six" ? as it was called here in the USA.  Could have been the base for a V12?

The Aussies have lots of sweet go fast parts for the six cylinders. They had lots more restrictions than Americans did back then, so they got good at building the engines they had.

The bad thing is that 2 door cars are fairly rare there.

413-Powered 1952 Chrysler New Yorker DOMINATES New England LeMons Race

MG_6402.jpg

The reason is this beautiful 64-year-old luxury Chrysler, a 1952 New Yorker discovered in forsaken and engineless condition by ERM Racing team captain Dave Burden.

Dave rounded up an unwanted early-1970s motorhome that had been festering for decades in someone’s yard, and the team extracted a 413 Wedge engine, Torqueflite 727 transmission and RV shifter, a big radiator, and some other pieces. Sound familiar?

They couldn’t get the engine timing set right, until someone realized that the distributor turns backwards on the industrial 413 engine and they were retarding when they should have been advancing the New Yorker’s timing.
